Anne Burrell's devastated fans slam 'embarrassing' tribute on Worst Cooks in America after chef's shock death
The Food Network's tribute to the late Anne Burrell has been branded an 'embarrassment' and a 'slap in the face' by outraged fans. Burrell died by suicide at the age of 55 on June 17, and on July 27 the channel honored her during the premiere of her final season as a mentor in Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible. At the end of the episode, a tribute message read: 'In Memoriam, Anne Burrell, 1969-2025.' 'If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available,' another note read. 'Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or chat at Burrell's furious fans were disappointed by the 'five second' tribute due to it airing at 10pm and questioned why it could not have been scheduled for earlier in the day. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one furiously penned: 'Chef Burrell deserves more than a tribute beginning at 10pm. Surely you can shelve the endless hours of Triple D and Triple G that clog up your lineup for a more comprehensive tribute.' Another scorned: 'At 10pm when no one is really watching. Great idea!' 'Wow a single day starting at 10pm? Complete disrespect,' slammed a third. Another wrote: '10pm? Why not earlier in the day? Didn't she start with Batali and Iron Chef? You could run Secrets of a Restaurant Chef most of the day. That was a great show.' 'Whoever came up with the 10pm timeslot should be fired,' quipped a fifth. 'What an embarrassment and slap in the face.' A sixth posted: 'Just watched Worst Cooks in America and it was kinda weird they had a five-second tribute to Anne Burrell at the end. I had expected they would open the show with some acknowledgment that she had died.' 'A little bittersweet watching this knowing it's Anne's last season but a little shocked they had nothing at the beginning of the episode mentioning her passing or dedicating the season to her?' added a seventh. Last month, Burrell, who hosted Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosted Worst Cooks in America, was found dead inside her Brooklyn apartment. According to the New York City medical examiner's office, her cause of death was listed as 'acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.' Diphenhydramine and cetirizine are both antihistamines, ethanol is a type of alcohol, and amphetamine is a stimulant often prescribed for ADHD. Burrell's furious fans were disappointed by the tribute due to it airing at 10pm and questioned why it could not have been scheduled for earlier in the day At the time, a Food Network spokesperson said: 'Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. 'Our thoughts are with Anne's family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.' Television personality Burrell had taken a break from her show Worst Cooks In America for season 28 before her death, a decision that baffled many fans. However, speaking to Tori Spelling, Burrell explained: 'I can cook, yes, I can do TV, but also, what else? I've got more to do in my life, I feel like.' She also admitted that she was just 'dipping my toe' when it came to the pivot to acting. Burrell added: 'I feel very excited about it. I've got a few other things that I'm working on as well, which I'm not quite ready to share yet. Hopefully, exciting [are] things coming.'

Eli Lilly Surges Ahead: JPMorgan Sees $1,100 Price Target on Obesity Drug Boom
July 11 -Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY) drew attention on Friday after JPMorgan reiterated its bullish stance on the stock, raising its price target to $1,100 and citing strong momentum in the company's obesity treatment portfolio Analyst Chris Schott pointed to continued strength in sales of Mounjaro and Zepbound, with the latter accounting for roughly 75% of new treatment starts despite its removal from CVS Health's (CVS) preferred drug list. JPMorgan said Eli Lilly is enrolling about 500,000 new obesity drug patients per month, and maintains more than 60% share in the category. The brokerage sees long-term growth potential driven by next-gen drugs, including orforglipron, a pill-based GLP-1 treatment in development, and the late-stage candidate retatrutide, referred to as Triple G. Patent coverage into the 2030s reduces risk of near-term exclusivity losses, the note said, adding that earnings could surpass $55 per share by 2030, up from $13 in 2023. Strong pipeline momentum and durable patent coverage continue to bolster investor confidence. Based on the one year price targets offered by 26 analysts, the average target price for Eli Lilly and Co is $967.78 with a high estimate of $1190.00 and a low estimate of $675.00. The average target implies a upside of +22.40% from the current price of $790.65. Based on GuruFocus estimates, the estimated GF Value for Eli Lilly and Co in one year is $1218.37, suggesting a upside of +54.10% from the current price of $790.65. Gf value is Gurufocus' estimate of the fair value that the stock should be traded at. It is calculated based on the historical multiples the stock has traded at previously, as well as past business growth and the future estimates of the business' performance. Callum Peters impressed Gennady Golovkin in Paris – now he's taking his first steps as a pro
Aussie boxer Callum Peters was hanging out at the Olympic village in Paris last year, just hours after his brutally close split decision defeat to eventual silver medallist Nurbek Oralbay. The then 21-year-old was proud but disappointed in the loss to the highly-touted Kazakh fighter. His fight was named the best of the entire boxing tournament at the Olympics, but he thought he did enough to jag an upset victory. His day was about to become even more surreal as he was walking around the village with some teammates. 'This guy came up to me, gave me a handshake, and said something like, 'Killer performance, can't wait to see you in the pros' and gave me a good handshake and walked past me,' Peters says. 'I didn't know who it was. 'I thought it was some guy working for the Kazakh team. It was late at night, around 8 o'clock.' Thinking it was just a nice gesture from an official from the team of the fighter who'd just beaten him, Peters didn't think much of it. 'I just kept walking along,' he says. 'But then all the boys were like, 'Do you know who that was??' 'I had no idea who it was and they said, 'That's Triple G!' 'I was just like, 'What?! That's Triple G? He looks different'. 'It wasn't fight ready Triple G. You wouldn't know it was the most dangerous bloke in the world.' That's the same Triple G, aka Gennady Golovkin, who ruled over boxing's middleweight division for the better part of a decade, including a knockout win over Aussie Daniel Geale at Madison Square Garden in 2014. After retiring from fighting, Golovkin headed up the Kazakh Olympic boxing committee, and is now the chair of the World Boxing Olympic Commission. He has been credited as one of the major figures behind saving boxing from the axe at the Olympics after years of scandal. Any disappointment that his Olympics campaign had come to a premature end washed away pretty quickly. 'The whole experience was crazy,' he says. 'That night, I couldn't really sleep properly. It was beautiful. 'To get a bit of motivation from Triple G, that freaked me out a bit. It's like he was undercover.' Peters turned pro in Sydney in December and had his second paid fight on Tim Tszyu's undercard in Newcastle in April. The slick South Australian is back in action this Wednesday on the undercard to Liam Paro and Liam Wilson's double header in Cairns. The charismatic boxer still has one foot in the non-paid ranks too though, and is aiming to win an amateur world title in England later this year. Australian men have won five bronze world championship medals, but no Aussie bloke has won World Championship gold. It's something Peters wants to put right, and he's using this Wednesday's fight against Anthony Hoarao (2-0) as the start of his prep. 'This Cairns card is massive,' he says. 'To be part of it, to share the week with guys like Liam Paro and Liam Wilson – I can't wait. 'I want to test myself under pressure and keep building momentum before the Worlds. I love the challenge of juggling amateurs and pros. 'No Australian man has ever won gold at the Worlds – that's the first box I want to tick. 'Then I want to prove I can back it up in the pros. I want to hold the Aussie belt knowing I've taken on the best in the world and then come back home and come out on top too. 'This is about pushing the limits for Australian boxing. 'If I can show it's possible, to win at the top level as an amateur and then succeed in the pros, then maybe more kids will believe they can too.'
