Comet Lithium (CSE:CLIC) announced the launch of its 2025 Phase 1 exploration program. The initiative is set to begin on June 13, 2025, targeting the company's 100 per cent-owned Triple L and Elmer East properties in the mineral-rich Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Québec.
The 17-day field campaign will be conducted in collaboration with Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd., bringing seasoned technical expertise to Comet's exploration strategy. Two field teams will carry out a targeted, first-pass prospecting program, including detailed mapping, sampling, and traverses across 35 planned lines in areas identified as highly prospective for mineralization.
'This initial phase is a critical step in advancing our portfolio, and our systematic, first-pass approach is designed to efficiently evaluate multiple high-priority target areas,' Vincent Metcalfe, chair and CEO of Comet Lithium said in a news release. 'At Triple L, identifying copper-nickel showings is a key focus, and our early geophysical interpretation and satellite analysis have revealed highly promising anomalies. With the expertise of our field teams and partners, we're well positioned to uncover meaningful mineralization and unlock the broader potential of both properties.'
Triple L Property: Geophysical insights drive targeting
At the Triple L Property, high-priority targets were selected based on the interpretation of 2024 high-resolution magnetic (MAG) and time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) survey data, complemented by satellite imagery. These targets, highlighted in red on the company's exploration maps, will be investigated using a Beep Mat—a portable electromagnetic survey tool that detects conductive bodies up to three metres below the surface.
The field team will focus on refining detection of potential copper-nickel mineralization. While the geophysical anomalies are promising, Comet emphasizes that these results are preliminary and not definitive indicators of mineral discovery.
Elmer East Property: Pegmatite potential
Meanwhile, at the Elmer East Property, satellite image analysis has pinpointed several high-priority zones, particularly in the southern block, where bedrock is likely to be outcropping or sub-outcropping. These areas are considered prospective for lithium-bearing pegmatites, a key source of lithium used in electric vehicle batteries.
The exploration team will conduct systematic sampling and mapping to assess the potential of these targets, with a focus on identifying lithium-rich mineralization
