'General Hospital' Fans 'Hearts Full' After 'Bittersweet' Moment Leads to Surprise Return and Exit

'General Hospital' Fans 'Hearts Full' After 'Bittersweet' Moment Leads to Surprise Return and Exit originally appeared on Parade. General Hospital fans got quite a shock today when beloved soap legend Tristan Rogers returned as Robert Scorpio. The brief comeback occurred as Jason (Steve Burton) delivered Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and baby Daisy to their new home. Robert opened the door to welcome his daughter and granddaughter with open arms. The moment came hours after Rogers announced he had been battling have flooded social media with thoughts after watching General Hospital, especially since it appears Mattsson has exited the ABC soap. 'I legit talk s--t about Sasha not spending any time with her Scorpio people and here #gh go and surprise me with Sasha and Daisy going to Robert and her calling him 'dad' too. Lawd, my hearts full! Get well, Tristan. We love you!' wrote a fan on X. Another fan expressed, 'Bittersweet to see Tristen. Makes me think we won't see much of Daisy or Sasha. But that baby grew hair from the airplane to grandpa's so that's a little weird.' 'Oh my heart ❤️ Robert Scorpio Thank you Tristan Rogers for giving us a wonder moment with Sasha & Daisy. Wishing you the best,' read an X. One fan shared on X, 'What an unexpected treat to see @tristanrogers! I don't know why it never occurred to me that Jason might be taking Sasha to her parents.' A fan insisted, "#GH I LOOOVE that Jason took Sasha to her daddy! ROBERT SCORPIO got her & Lil' Daisy with a father's fierceness!" 'Loved seeing Robert! Wish Holly was there too but we know she's there somewhere. So glad Sasha and Daisy will be with Robert and Holly! @tristanrogers @EmmaSamms1 @SofiaMattsson1," a different fan stated. There was a fan who said, 'What a beautiful way to send Sasha to #RobertScorpio So fantastic to see you @tristanrogers ❤️😭#GH.' A fan declared on X, 'Hi, dad' 🥺🥹 it's so good to see Robert Scorpio. I love that they included him in Sasha's (hopefully temporary) exitI just wish we got scenes between her & Holly where she tells her mom she understands now.' Neither the actress nor General Hospital has commented on her leaving. That means there's a good chance that Sasha's leaving is simply a storyline, or perhaps Mattsson needed to take a brief leave of absence. Either way, it was great to see Rogers back in the mix, even if it was only for a hot minute. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. 'General Hospital' says goodbye to Sasha actress Sofia Mattsson: 'You'll always have a home to come back to'

General Hospital is bidding adieu to Sasha Gilmore. After seven years on the ABC soap, Sofia Mattson departed GH in Friday's episode of the show. The ep saw Sasha reunite with her dad, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) for the second time this week, following Rogers' real-life announcement that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Sasha ultimately decided to leave Port Charles to spend time with her parents and her newborn daughter, Daisy, who was being threatened back home. Jason (Steve Burton), who escorted Sasha out of Port Charles, wished her goodbye — in such a way that leaves the door open for her return. "You'll always have a home to come back to," he said. A representative for the show explained the actress' exit to TV Insider on Friday — and noted that Mattsson's departure may not be permanent. "There was a good time in the storyline for Sofia to leave to pursue other opportunities in film and TV," they shared. "But she is open for a return in the future." Mattson described her final day on set in an interview with TV Insider. "It was emotional for sure," she said. "Cleaning out my room and knowing that I wouldn't see all my friends there like usual every other day felt sad. But everyone was so supportive and excited for me." The actress said departing the show feels "bittersweet," and she looks forward to the new opportunities ahead. "I've had such a great time, but I'm also excited for a new chapter and to continue my acting journey in new projects," she said. Mattson also said she'd consider returning to soap acting if the right opportunity arose. "I'd have to see what the role was, but I'm definitely not opposed to coming back to the soap world," she said. "I think being on a soap is one of the best jobs you can have as an actress."Mattson first joined GH in September 2018, and went on to appear in over 500 episodes of the show. Her sister, actress Helena Mattsson, stepped in to play Sasha in her absence for two episodes in February 2022. Outside of General Hospital, Mattson has appeared in episodes of NCIS, Two and a Half Men, and StartUp. She has also appeared in movies like Becoming Bond, Jurassic City, and Adrenochrome.
