Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2026 4-star DL out of Georgia

Texas A&M lost a significant amount of starting experience on the defensive line after three players left for the NFL. With this season's projected starters being upperclassmen who may also enter the draft, building young depth is crucial for the program's future. That's already clear in the 2026 class, where the Aggies have secured four hard commits along the defensive line and have several other high-priority targets. The latest addition is top-50 prospect Tristian Givens, who brings elite talent that A&M hopes to pair with another standout from Georgia. The Aggies' strong track record of producing NFL-caliber defensive linemen makes them an attractive destination for recruits. One such recruit is Bryce Perry-Wright, a native of Buford, Georgia, who recently named Texas A&M among his top four schools, alongside Clemson, Miami, and Texas. He is set to announce his commitment live on July 5, with the stream available on YouTube. On Wednesday, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong dropped one of his patented 'FONG BOMB' predictions, forecasting that Texas A&M will land Perry-Wright. Considering head coach Mike Elko's recent success with top targets, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Aggies land another high-profile commitment. Perry-Wright, a dual-sport athlete, has proven effective both inside and outside on the defensive line. His impressive junior season—57 tackles (13 for loss) and nine sacks—helped lead his team to the playoff semifinals and earned him a spot in the Navy All-American Bowl. According to Rivals, he is ranked as the No. 33 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 5 edge rusher, and the No. 5 player in Georgia. Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class tops the SEC in On3's updated industry rankings

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is by far the hottest in the country, and the momentum isn't slowing down anytime soon. Over the past week, the Aggies gained five commitments, including five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and five-star edge Tristian Givens over the past four days. With 19 commitments in the cycle, coach Mike Elko and his talented staff are closing in on the No. 1-ranked class nationally, but it will be tough to upend USC, as the Trojans have by far been the hottest program in terms of recruiting since the start of the year. Still, Texas A&M boasts the best class in the SEC, which is expected to continue growing over the next few days or weeks following Elko's hosting of ten 2026 prospects last weekend. Right now, the Aggies are favored to land rising 2026 three-star offensive tackle Aaron Thomas, who will announce his commitment on Wednesday. However, Thomas is just the first name of a handful of upcoming commitments, including five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, who is coming off what many deem as a highly successful official visit to LSU. With plenty of news to come, On3 released its latest SEC industry rankings for the 2026 cycle, and the Aggies remain the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in what many consider to be the best conference among the Power Four. Tennessee Dealt Bad News on Highly Touted Star This Weekend

Tennessee Dealt Bad News on Highly Touted Star This Weekend originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tennessee Volunteers are pushing for several highly regarded prospects this weekend. But the program can cross one edge rusher off the list. Advertisement On3's Steve Wiltfong wrote Saturday that four-star edge rusher Tristian Givens announced his commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies. Givens made his pledge while on an official visit to College Station, Texas. Tennessee may have finished as the runner-up for the edge rusher. "The four-star Givens chose the Aggies over Tennessee and many others. He also strongly considered Florida State and USC," wrote Wiltfong. It's a significant blow for the Volunteers, who are trying to make a move in the recruiting rankings early this summer. Meanwhile, Texas A&M's 2026 class has vaulted into the No. 2 spot, according to the 247Sports rankings, behind only the USC Trojans. Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel© Adam Cairns-Imagn Images Based on the 247Sports Composite rankings, Givens is rated the No. 7 edge rusher and No. 6 Georgia prospect in the 2026 class. The same rankings also placed him at No. 61 overall in the entire class. Advertisement 'First and foremost you can tell he loves the game,' Givens' high school head coach Jarvis Jones told Wiltfong. 'He's big, fast, he plays the game violently. The way you're supposed to play it. He's athletic, he can move, he can make plays on his feet. He can put his hand in the dirt. I think he's able to play in space and drop in coverage. 'He's a big, fast athlete that can do many things.' On some recruiting rankings, Given is rated as a five-star prospect. Tennessee still has just nine commits for the 2026 class. The Volunteers' class is ranked 37th overall according to 247Sports. Although the Volunteers are off to a better start in 2026 recruiting than the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers, Tennessee has a lot of work to do to catch Texas A&M, along with their top rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators. Texas A&M lands commitment from elite 2026 five-star Edge out of Georgia

Texas A&M's recruiting success continued on Saturday afternoon, as one of the program's 13 visitors announced his commitment to the Aggies as a five-star edge Tristian Givens, who is currently taking his first official visit to College Station, became the 19th commit in A&M's 2026 cycle, and the second five-star commit alongside cornerback Brandon Arrington. Texas A&M's long history of recruiting and developing elite defensive linemen, and after sending Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner to the NFL this offseason, Elko and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer can continue using the program's previous success to gain ground with elite pass rushers with NFL potential. Tristian Givens is that player, and the Georgia native has a bright future in front of him. Advertisement Choosing the Aggies over Tennessee and Washington, where he recently took official visits, Texas A&M's future edge rotation will allow Givens to see the field earlier than expected, with senior Cashius Howell off to the NFL after the 2025 season. On the field, Givens is still raw as a pass rusher, having started his football career as a wide receiver, but possesses elite traits, especially his ability to bend and keep his balance once he turns the corner. Under Mike Elko, who will call the defensive plays this coming season, recruiting and developing NFL talent is the key to competing for a College Football Playoff spot. According to 247Sports, Givens is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 3rd-ranked edge, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Texas A&M Football Lands Elite Class of 2026 Edge Rusher Tristian Givens Over Two Power Four Schools Tennessee and Washington

Texas A&M Football Lands Elite Class of 2026 Edge Rusher Tristian Givens Over Two Power Four Schools Tennessee and Washington originally appeared on Athlon Sports. "I'm home. Recruitment shut down. #GigEm," Texas A&M football's latest commitment told On3's Hayes Fawcett in announcing his decision. Advertisement The Aggies picked up its 19th recruit from the class of 2026 on Saturday, June 21. After his visit to College Station on June 20, this five-star edge rusher had his sights set on Texas A&M. Texas A&M football head coach Mike Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports Carver High School's Tristian Givens is the second five-star player to join the Aggies class of 2026 commitment roster. No. 10 overall recruit Brandon Arrington was the first. Givens is the No. 61 overall and No. 7 edge. He's also the sixth pick out of Georgia. In his scouting reporter, Andrew Ivins wrote: "Linear edge rusher with some explosive take-offs and a high pressure rate that has a chance to bake into a true difference-maker up front. Still relatively new to the role after starting prep career off as a pass catcher, but has attacked with no shortage of urgency from both a two- and three-point stance in a multi-look front. Lacks polish at the stage, but transitions from speed to power with ease and can will his way around offensive tackles . . . Multi-sport profile and testing data aligns with most of the edge assassins being selected in the early rounds of the NFL Draft these days." The edge rusher received 33 offers and narrowed his decision down to Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Washington. According to Texas A&M Aggies on SI, he also had unofficial visits with USC and Florida State. Advertisement This is the third edge rusher to join head coach Mike Elko's group of rising juniors. Four-stars Samu Moala and Jordan Carter previously committed to the Aggies. However, it's been rumored that Moala's decision has potential to flip over to USC. So despite having two edge rushers committed already, having not only a third but an elite player at that brings stability to this position of the class.
