The countdown to USC's 2025 football season is officially on! The Trojans kick off their new campaign 85 days from today. You need something to help you while away the days and hours in the spring and summer. This is one way to do so. In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we take a look at the youngest player on our list to date, current USC tight end Walker Lyons. Position: Tight end Advertisement Years played at USC: 2024-present Career highlights: Lyons originally graduated from high school in 2022, and was part of Lincoln Riley's first recruiting class at USC. After serving a two-year Mormon mission in Norway, Lyons joined the Trojans prior to the 2024 season. USC linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold signs with Cleveland Browns

Flowing the conclusion of the 2025 NFL draft, numerous USC players have signed with teams as undrafted free agents. Earlier this week, linebacker Easton Mascarenas-Arnold became the latest Trojan to do so when he inked a deal with the Cleveland Browns. Easton Mascarenas-Arnold was always going to have a tough time getting drafted because of his lack of top-end speed. When evaluating NFL players as physical specimen, having at least one quality which pops off the film is important. Mascarenas-Arnold has a tremendous work ethic and was involved in a lot of plays for USC. He is a smart player who has a knack for being around the ball, and it is widely accepted that coach Matt Entz did a great job with the linebacker room last season before he took over the head coaching job at Fresno State and earned a promotion within the industry. Advertisement However, as well as Mascarenas-Arnold was coached last year at USC, and as hard as he works, the NFL is a vicious, cutthroat business. NFL draft prospects need to be the very best athletic performers with supreme physical profiles. Mascarenas-Arnold doesn't check enough of those boxes. His intangibles are through the roof, but intangibles can only do so much. Let's see if EMA can max out enough to get a special teams or backup linebacker job in the pros. Three Trojans sign with NFL teams as undrafted free agents

Saturday marked the final day of the 2025 NFL Draft. This year, three Trojans heard their names called in the league's annual event: Jaylin Smith, Woody Marks, and Jonah Monheim. Following the conclusion of the draft, any player not selected was free to sign with any team as an undrafted free agent. Thus far, three USC players have done so. Advertisement First, punter Eddie Czaplicki signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Czaplicki won the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter last season. Also signing with Kansas City was defensive back Jacobe Covington. Covington played a key role in USC's secondary over the past three years after starting his college career at Washington. Finally, defensive lineman Jamil Muhammad signed with the Los Angeles Rams. Muhammad's position coach at USC was Eric Henderson, who previously worked with the Rams for five years, so he should have some familiarity with the staff already. More USC players could potentially sign with teams in the days to come, so be sure to stay tuned to Trojans Wire for all the latest updates!
