Sunny and seasonable for the entire Fourth of July weekend. It's rare to have all three days sunny with no rain. In fact, since 2000, there have only been five other years that were dry all three days; yet some of those years were blazing hot! The last time we had a similar three-day holiday stretch was back in 2009, a whopping 16 years ago. So enjoy it! CBS News Philadelphia The weekend will be just a bit warmer than Friday and just as nice with mostly sunny skies, a touch more humidity, and temperatures reaching 90 by Sunday. Next week is a different story as the ridge of high pressure bringing this wonderful weather weakens, and we return to a typical summer weather pattern. Each day will be more humid with a chance of thunderstorms, and temperatures will bounce between the 80s and 90s. CBS News Philadelphia We are also watching Tropical Depression 3 off the Carolina coastline. This storm is expected to become Tropical Storm Chantal by Saturday afternoon, making landfall early Sunday morning along the South Carolina Coast, then proceeding north, bringing additional moisture by early next week. While the system is not expected to impact South Florida, the NEXT Weather team is keeping a close eye on the tropics, especially with the potential for holiday travel disruptions as the storm system continues to develop. The depression is slowly gaining strength and could become Tropical Storm Chantal by Saturday afternoon. If named, this would be the third storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Forecast calls for possible landfall in South Carolina As of Friday, the depression was located just off the Carolina coastline and is expected to drift close to shore through the day Saturday. The National Hurricane Center's forecast cone showed the storm with a possibility to make landfall somewhere along the South Carolina coast this weekend or early next week. The system is expected to bring very heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the Southeast, including coastal areas of North and South Carolina. Storm impact expected to be limited While the storm will likely cause localized flooding and travel issues, the overall impact will be relatively minor. Tropical depression forms off Florida's coast, TS watch for South Carolina
The disturbance that moved from over North Florida to off North Florida's Atlantic Coast became Tropical Depression 3 Friday afternoon. The National Hurricane Center issued its 5 p.m. advisory at about 4:35 p.m. to announce the system's upgrade and expects the system to be Tropical Storm Andrea by Saturday. Tropical Depression 3 Where it is and where it's going: The system is about 150 miles south-southeast of Charleston and about 245 miles south-southwest of Wilmington, North Carolina. 'A slow motion toward the north-northwest is expected through Saturday,followed by a motion toward the north Saturday night and Sunday,' the hurricane center said. 'On the forecast track, the center of the depression is expected to move near or over the coast of South Carolina on Sunday morning.' Strength and speed: Top sustained winds measure 35 mph. It's moseying north at 2 mph. 'Gradual strengthening is expected, and the system is forecast to become a tropical storm on Saturday,' the hurricane center said. Watches and warnings: A tropical storm watch has been issued from South Carolina's Edisto Beach to Little River Inlet. This menas tropical storm conditions are possible in the next 48 hours. Effects: Heavy rains in the Carolinas' coastal plains, generally 2 to 4 inches but up to 6 inchest in some places, is expected. A 1 to 2-food storm surge is possible in the tropical storm watch area. Obviously, rip currents and dangerously rough surf will be the norm this weekend. Next update: There will be an intermediate advisory at 8 p.m. and a full advisory at 11 p.m.
