Shelby Dems host Chris Gibbs at Truman-Kennedy Breakfast May 3
SHELBY — Chris Gibbs will be the keynote speaker at the Shelby Area Democratic Club's 18th annual Truman-Kennedy Breakfast on May 3. According to an announcement, Gibbs, the chair of the Shelby County Democratic Party, will address attendees from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, located at 23 Church St.
Gibbs, a farmer who was a Reagan Republican for most of his life, shifted his political views after writing a critique of former President Trump in a local newspaper in 2018. It cost him friends and his seat on the Shelby County Board of Elections. Attendees will hear how Gibbs is working to reshape the political landscape in rural Ohio.
The event will also feature the presentation of the annual Give 'Em Hell and Profiles in Courage awards. These awards recognize individuals who have embodied the spirit of Presidents Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy through their actions over the past year.
Reservations are accepted through May 1 and seating is limited. Interested individuals can contact John at 419-709-6461 or via email at shelbydems@
