The Best Places to Dine in Fredericksburg, Virginia
Where to find bean burgers, fabulous pastas, bourbon, and much more in the historic town
Just an hour's drive (or train) from D.C., Fredericksburg, Virginia is a charming and walkable city steeped in history and brimming with modern appeal. Founded in 1728 and named after Frederick, the Prince of Wales, this Rappahannock River-side town offers a blend of colonial heritage, scenic nature, and a dynamic food and drink scene.
If you're visiting in the summer, don't miss Twilight in Downtown, a weekly Wednesday event featuring live music, pop-up food vendors, and a bustling farmers market on Main Street. In the fall, check out ghost tours or seasonal cider tastings. Year-round, you can enjoy wine tasting along the George Washington Wine Trail, art galleries, or a cozy night out at the local theater.
And, of course, there's all the excellent grub—Fredericksburg's dining scene blends Southern roots, international influence, and local ingredients. And there's much to look forward to on the food front this month. Trummer's in Clifton alum Dan Perron is gearing up to open an upscale American restaurant called Locavore in the heart of historic Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg is home to all the chains imaginable in its Central Park shopping center located right off I-95, but its downtown district is packed with old-school appeal and a bounty of independently run restaurants.
