Trump hits back at ‘dried-up prune' Springsteen
Donald Trump has called Bruce Springsteen a 'dried-up prune' in an escalating row with the musician. Springsteen, 75, criticised the president during the first show of his UK tour earlier this week, branding Mr Trump's administration 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous'. In response, the president took to Truth Social to question the 20-time Grammy winner's musical talents, calling him 'highly overrated' and 'dumb as a rock'. Mr Trump said: 'I see that highly overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a foreign country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his radical Left politics and, importantly, he's not a talented guy.' The president has previously played the singer's 'Born in the USA' anthem at his rallies. Mr Trump, 78, also lambasted the singer for his looks. 'This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare'. Then we'll all see how it goes for him!' the president said. During his Manchester concert, Springsteen said: 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring.' The Dancing in the Dark singer later went on to deliver a longer political speech in which he warned of 'very weird, strange and dangerous s--- going on' in the US and labelled Mr Trump an 'unfit president' presiding over a 'rogue government'. Springsteen is a long-time Democrat supporter who called Mr Trump an 'American tyrant' when he performed at a star-studded Kamala Harris rally on the 2024 campaign trail. Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, accused Springsteen of suffering from 'Trump derangement syndrome'. Mr Cheung told The Washington Post: 'When this loser Springsteen comes back home to his own City of Ruins in his head, he'll realize his Glory Days are behind him and his fans have left him Out in the Street, putting him in a Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out because he has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain.' Mr Trump's diatribe came less than an hour after he criticised Taylor Swift, saying the singer-songwriter is 'no longer hot'. 'Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'' the president wrote on Truth Social. Mr Trump previously fulminated against the Shake It Off singer in September after she endorsed Ms Harris for president. The musician announced her endorsement after the presidential debate with a social media post signed 'Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,' in a nod to JD Vance's jibes against Democrats. During his first term in office, Mr Trump frequently clashed with a number of celebrities, including Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep.

Donald Trump criticises Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen on Truth Social
US President Donald Trump has lashed out at two music giants, declaring Bruce Springsteen a "dried out prune" and Taylor Swift "no longer HOT". Returning from a whirlwind Middle East diplomatic trip on Friday, local time, Mr Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to feud with Springsteen. Springsteen, known as The Boss, described the Trump administration as "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous" during a concert in Manchester this week — the first show in his current European tour. "They're rolling back historic civil rights legislation that led to a more just and moral society," Springsteen said. Mr Trump hit back on Truth Social, calling Springsteen "highly overrated". "Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics," he wrote. "And, importantly, he's not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL." The US president continued by calling Springsteen "dumb as a rock". "This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country," he said. Mr Trump also took aim at Swift on his social media platform. "Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'" he said in the post. Last September, the US president posted "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT" after the singer endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for president. In February this year, he celebrated on Truth Social when Swift was booed at the Super Bowl. "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift," he wrote. Springsteen, 75, has long been an outspoken supporter of Democratic politics. He campaigned for former US president Barack Obama and backed then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. Last year, Springsteen appeared at a Democratic campaign rally in Philadelphia in support of the party's presidential candidate, Ms Harris. Swift, widely considered the world's most influential pop star, has also spoken out in support of Democratic politicians since 2018. She endorsed Kamala Harris prior to the 2024 US presidential election, after AI material depicting her and her fans endorsing Mr Trump circulated online. Mr Trump shared the deepfakes images and added "I accept!". Swift also threw her support behind Mr Biden in 2020, directly addressing Mr Trump in a social media post saying: "We will vote you out in November."
