#SHOWBIZ: Mawi's solo concert called off due to unavoidable circumstances
KUALA LUMPUR: After months of anticipation and delays, Mawi's highly awaited solo concert, 'Tsumawi 20 Mawi World Live In Kuala Lumpur', has officially been cancelled.
The announcement was made by event organiser Showtag Asia on its official Instagram page, stating that the decision was made due to "unavoidable circumstances" despite their best efforts.
"With a heavy heart, we announce that the 'Tsumawi 20 Mawi World Live In KL' concert, originally scheduled for Jan 25, 2025 and later postponed to July, has been cancelled. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and deeply appreciate the continued support from fans," the statement read.
Showtag Asia also clarified that they now bear full responsibility for all ticket refunds and are no longer involving their previous partner,
"This was not an easy decision. We tried our utmost, but we must accept what fate has determined. All ticket refunds will be handled entirely by Showtag Entertainment," they added.
The concert was originally planned to celebrate Mawi's 20-year journey in the Malaysian entertainment industry.
At the official announcement last September, the singer-director made headlines by shaving his head to symbolise a fresh start after growing his hair long for seven years.
Initially set for Megastar Arena in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 25, 2025, the event was postponed to July as a gesture of solidarity with victims affected by severe flooding in several states.
According to a report today in Berita Harian, Mawi, 44, whose full name is Asmawi Ani, declined to comment on the cancellation, leaving the matter entirely in the hands of the organisers.
