Saiyaara first reactions praise Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's ‘amazing' performances, Mohit Suri's direction; Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Anubhav Sinha share support

The day has finally arrived, Mohit Suri's much-anticipated romantic-musical Saiyaara releases today across 1,750 screens in India. In the weeks leading up to its debut, the film has generated significant buzz, thanks to its soundtrack composed by long-time Suri collaborator Mithoon, and the fresh pairing of debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Adding to the excitement, singer Palak Muchhal shared her early thoughts after a special screening, calling Saiyaara 'not just a love story, but a journey of emotion, pain, healing, and timeless connection.' She praised Suri's direction and lauded the lead actors, calling them 'the most brilliant debutants I've ever seen, so raw, so powerful.' The film has also been drawing admiration from leading voices in the film industry, not just for its content, but for its refreshingly organic marketing. In an era dominated by heavy-handed PR, influencer tie-ins, and sometimes inflated box office narratives, Saiyaara has stood out for its minimal, music-driven campaign. Filmmaker Kunal Kohli took to X (formerly Twitter) to applaud the strategy, writing: 'Congrats Adi. No interviews. No reels. Just a kick**s trailer & good music. Huge opening on the cards. This is the way to do it. These rubbish interviews & silly reels are just that. Rubbish and silly.' Congrats Adi. No interviews. No Reels. Just a kick ass trailer & good music. Huge opening on the cards. This is the way to do it. These rubbish interviews & silly reels are just that. Rubbish and silly. True promotion of a film is good music & good trailers. Interviews do NOT… — kunal kohli (@kunalkohli) July 16, 2025 Director Anubhav Sinha, who himself debuted with the romantic hit Tum Bin, also showed his support: 'Another love story is coming this Friday. Society greatly needs love. One should keep meeting with love. Watch it in theatres like you watched Metro. Saiyaara is the name of the film. Mohit makes very good love stories, and they're hits too. There are new actors. That's another reason to watch.' — Anubhav Sinha (@anubhavsinha) July 16, 2025 Joining the cohort this morning was Hansal Mehta, who wished Mohit Suri the best of luck for the release and praised his passion for love stories. Your moment has arrived @mohit11481. All the very best for Saiyaara. May your passion and love for movies and music be rewarded in all deserving ways. Much love. — Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) July 18, 2025 Also Read | Saiyaara director Mohit Suri: 'No matter what you do online, you still wish to hold someone's hand' Writer-lyricist Varun Grover praised the film's promotional choices, tweeting: 'A good, original romantic album and solid marketing with every song having a video push is still the best strategy. OTTs also need to understand this and invest in original music.' A good, original romantic album and solid marketing with every song having a video push is still the best strategy. OTTs also need to understand this and invest in original music. — वरुण 🇮🇳 (@varungrover) July 16, 2025 Earlier, after the trailer dropped, Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had also expressed his excitement: 'Witnessing a Hindi heartland love story that fully emphasizes romance and drama. Waiting to watch it on the first day. Wishing the debutants all the very best :-) It's purely Mohit Suri's magic.' Witnessing a hindi heartland love story completely emphasizing on romance and drama. Waiting to watch it on the first day. Wishing the debutants all the very best :-) It's purely Mohith suri's Magic :-) @mohit11481 — Sandeep Reddy Vanga (@imvangasandeep) July 9, 2025 Ahaan Panday's sister, actress Ananya Panday, expressed her love and pride on Instagram, writing: 'Been obsessed with my brother since day 1 and I can't wait for the world to feel the same' The debutants themselves shared heartfelt notes on social media last night, expressing gratitude to director Mohit Suri and producer Aditya Chopra for the opportunity and mentorship throughout the journey. Shared post on Time According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara has clocked an impressive ₹12.49 crore in advance bookings, including block seats, for Day 1, an extraordinary number for a film featuring newcomers. If these numbers hold, Saiyaara is poised to surpass the opening day collection of Aashiqui 2, another Suri-Mithoon collaboration that became a cult classic. Trade analysts have even begun comparing the film's pre-release buzz to that of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which launched Hrithik Roshan into superstardom in 2000. Much of the credit is being given to Yash Raj Films' calculated decision to keep the lead pair away from overexposure, eschewing interviews and digital gimmicks to preserve their novelty for the theatrical experience. So, all eyes are on the big screen now.

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha 's heart-touching romance saga, "Tum Bin" completed 24 years of release on Sunday. Marking the occasion, the filmmaker penned a nostalgic note on his official Instagram handle. He revealed that when he started the film he only had a story he wanted to tell. Sinha penned on the photo-sharing app, "Today 'Tum Bin' has turned twenty-four. I had no idea what a hit was or what a flop was. There was a story and a lively producer; everything else happened gradually. The team was like a small army. Everyone was doing everything. Whether we ate or slept made no difference. Movies were made like that. They should be made like that. An open heart, an open sky. Fly. There is no rule book for flying. " He revealed that a film's success is not detemined by its box office numbers, but by how many years it is remembered by the viewers. "A film is not successful or unsuccessful on a Friday. The journey of a film is a journey through time. How many years the film is remembered for - that is the true journey of art. This is a twenty-minute making video. If you have time, do watch it. Not to see how it was made, but to see how little fear there was of winning or losing among us all," the filmmaker wrote. The post included a BTS video from the making of 'Tum Bin'. Sinha concluded the post by showing his gratitude to producer Bhushan Kumar . "Thanks to Bhushan Kumar and the atmosphere in which producers made films. Where have those people gone? All the producers who made films in the nineties and are no longer making them should come back. Films were made like that. Thank you, Bhushan ji, and to all those producers who make films trusting their directors. The audience is still the same," the note ended. Featuring Priyanshu Chatterjee , Sandali Sinha , Himanshu Malik, and Raqesh Bapat in the lead, "Tum Bin" got a theatrical release on July 13th, 2001.
