KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman called on all Sabahans to preserve cultural values during the Pesta Kaamatan celebration. In his Pesta Kaamatan message today, Tun Musa highlighted that festival remains a vital celebration that demonstrates gratitude for bountiful rice harvests, reflecting the agricultural heritage of local communities. 'This festival is still an integral part of our local culture, and the communities here respect and celebrate it. It has contributed to strengthening friendship among the various indigenous and ethnic groups in Sabah and in deepening understanding of the specific differences in cultural practices,' he said. The Governor also praised Sabah's resilience in maintaining its traditional values while embracing diversity. 'We remain a melting pot with our diverse ethnic groups who live in harmony. The unity that we enjoy in Sabah is an example for Malaysia,' he remarked. Tun Musa also expressed pride in Sabah's unique heritage, noting its significance not only for Malaysians but also for the global community.

In a joint statement with his wife Toh Puan Faridah, he wished all Sabahans a joyful harvest festival, highlighting that Kaamatan reflects the importance of sustaining indigenous values that remain relevant today. He said the celebration expresses gratitude for a bountiful rice harvest and plays a vital role in strengthening bonds amongst Sabah's diverse ethnic groups. Tun Musa also stressed that Sabah's strength lies in its resilience in upholding traditional values while embracing cultural diversity. Anwar in Sabah for full-day itinerary including audience with Musa Aman, launch of Madani Rakyat initiatives

KOTA KINABALU, May 11 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived here this morning for a one-day working visit to Sabah. The special aircraft carrying the prime minister landed at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 10.35 am, where he was received by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and members of the state Cabinet. Anwar is later scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu. He will then depart for Tawau to officiate at the closing ceremony of the state-level Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 at the Tawau Municipal Council Square at 2 pm. While in Tawau, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to hand over the completed Tamu Desa Sabah project, present the Sabah Entrepreneur Excellence Awards and launch the Solar Madani Programme at the three-day PMR 2025 event that began on Friday. Anwar and Hajiji are also expected to conduct a walkabout to observe the services provided by federal agencies and departments participating in the programme. — Bernama
