Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tunku Abu Bakar's success makes Malaysia proud
KUALA LUMPUR: The success of Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar at the GT World Challenge Asia in Japan has made the people of Johor and Malaysia proud, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said their achievement at the Fuji Speedway Circuit also reflected the competitiveness and strong fighting spirit of Malaysian youth on the international racing stage.
"Heartiest congratulations to Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim on his outstanding victory in the second race of the GT World Challenge Asia today.
"Congratulations also to Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim for securing third place in the first race yesterday," he said in a Facebook post.
In today's race, Tunku Abdul Rahman continued his brilliant performance with a dominant victory, leading from start to finish alongside Ben Green in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R #99.
However, Tunku Abu Bakar and Jordan Love (in the #66 car) were unlucky to lose third place at the final corner after being hit by another driver, forcing them to retire from the race.
Both Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) Corvette Z06 GT3.R cars started today's second race from the front row, after the #99 and #66 cars secured first and second grid positions respectively in yesterday's qualifying round.
