Dandadan Season 2 unleashes the Evil Eye: Here's what to expect from the anime's darkest arc
Source: Crunchyroll The goofy, unhinged chaos of Season 1? Yeah, put that in a haunted box and seal it with a talisman because Season 2 has entered full horror 1 dropped on 3 July, and the rest of the season is coming every Thursday on Crunchyroll (with Netflix and Hulu doing their thing in select regions). So, cancel your Thursday plans—or don't, but prepare to be haunted either way. Dandadan season 2 darkest arc explained Dandadan season 2 'Evil Eye arc' Say goodbye to chasing aliens in your undies and hello to full-blown possession, bloody eyes, and 'why is the room spinning' levels of fear. This season's big bad is the Evil Eye—a demon thingy with a serious anger issue and the fashion sense of a horror movie monster. It sets its sights on poor Jiji (sweet, clueless Jiji), who ends up looking like he went 10 rounds with The Ring and lost. We're talking rage fits, glowing orbs of doom, and family secrets that make Turbo Granny look wholesome. Dandadan season 2 'The Cursed House arc' So, Jiji invites Momo and Okarun to his totally normal house. Except… surprise! The house is bigger on the inside, smells like a haunted doll shop, and may or may not want to eat them. Weird rooms that shift. Talismans peeling off the walls. And don't get me started on that shrine in the attic. Honestly, if Scooby-Doo had trauma, it'd be this arc. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like You Won't Believe the Price of These Dubai Apartments Binghatti Developers FZE Get Offer Undo But oh, the animation. Science SARU went feral in the best way—fighting scenes switch between black and white and full-colour chaos depending on who's winning, losing, or getting emotionally obliterated. Where to watch Dandadan season 2 New episodes drop every Thursday, so lock in your Crunchyroll logins. Netflix and Hulu are streaming it in selected regions, too. Also, in a dramatic move, the first three episodes came out as a film (Dandadan: Evil Eye) in theatres. Dandadan season 2 new opening song Gone are the funky, chaotic OPs of Season 1. Now we've got 'On The Way' by AiNA THE END, and it is giving: melancholy ballet in a ghost town. Fans are divided. Half are weeping into their pillows, the other half are like, 'Where's the chaos??' But visually? It slaps. Silhouettes. Symbolism. Hidden references. You blink, you miss like five layers of trauma. Who is back in Dandadan season 2 Source: IMDB The original voice cast returns, still screaming, fighting, and flirting their way through paranormal hell: Momo = still the queen of exorcisms Okarun = still giving alien‑boyfriend energy Jiji = now the host for an actual demon Turbo Granny = still doing too much, and we love her for it Science SARU's also back, and they're clearly unhinged in the best way possible. Bless. Final thoughts : Why you should watch Dandadan season 2 Source: IMDB Season 1 gave us vibes. Season 2 is giving vibes with consequences. It's creepy, chaotic, emotional, and weird in a way only Dandadan can pull not just ghosts anymore. It's guilt. It's trauma. It's possession with a side of "are we still friends after that demon attacked us?"The relationships deepen. The tension thickens. The jump scares? They're not cheap—they're earned. And somehow, through all the horror, it still makes you laugh. Dandadan has that effect. Next episode drops this Thursday—don't say I didn't warn you. 10 things Dandadan does better than most animes
Source: Crunchyroll If you think Dandadan is just another shonen with flashy fights and goofy sidekicks—think again. This unique shonen anime doesn't follow trends—it sets them on fire. With psychic brawls, alien chaos, and the powerhouse that is Momo Ayase, it's easily one of the best new anime of 2025. From genre-bending madness to villains with actual emotional depth, Dandadan turns absurdity into brilliance. It's fast, funny, weird, and weirdly emotional. Honestly, it's doing everything most anime only wish they could pull off. Here are the top 10 things Dandadan anime does that proves it's simply built different. Here's why Dandadan is already one of the best anime of 2025 Source: Crunchyroll Why having two main characters makes Dandadan better Momo and Okarun aren't sidekicks—they're a tag team. Both get growth, screen time, and agency. One's not waiting around to be saved. They save each other. It creates richer character dynamics and a balanced narrative most anime struggle to achieve. Two leads. One wild, shared spotlight. Dandadan mixes genres better than other animes Other anime pick one lane. Dandadan veers across five. It juggles horror, romance, sci-fi, comedy, and shonen without missing a beat. The shift between alien invasions and ghost exorcisms somehow feels natural. It doesn't stick to a formula—it lights the formula on fire and laughs. Every frame of Dandadan looks like it's trying to win a film festival and a fistfight at the same time. The animation moves like it's possessed. It's not just stylish—it's explosive, expressive, and visually impossible to ignore. Why Dandadan villains are scarier and deeper Forget mindless monsters. The Evil Eye and Turbo Granny come with layered backstories, emotional triggers, and sometimes even redemption arcs. Dandadan's antagonists feel unsettling because they're also sad, sympathetic, or worse—relatable. It's horror with a heart, and a few too many teeth. Dandadan is the most realistic anime about teens Yes, it's got aliens and ghosts. But the teenage emotion is painfully real. Momo's grief. Okarun's jealousy. Their cringy crush tension. These kids are awkward, vulnerable, and confused in a way that feels honest. It captures high school energy without ever slipping into parody or melodrama. Craziest fight scenes in any anime Fights in Dandadan feel like dreams—intense, fast, and slightly laws of physics are gently ignored. Each sequence blends dynamic motion with surreal visuals. It's not about power scaling; it's about impact and imagination. You don't just watch fights—you get pulled into them. Dandadan powers are better than basic shonen tropes Okarun's alien abilities. Momo's spirit fists. Turbo Granny's supernatural absurdity. These powers don't follow a boring hierarchy—they're unpredictable, specific, and often not about leveling up, it's about being clever, chaotic, and spiritually possessed in the most entertaining way possible. Dandadan is the funniest horror anime ever Dandadan walks the razor edge between genuine scares and laugh-out-loud moments. The humour feels natural, even in the middle of terrifying scenes. It doesn't undermine tension—it complements it. The comedy is absurd, shameless, and delivered with impeccable timing. It's scary and stupid in perfect harmony. Why Momo Ayase is one of anime's best female leads Momo Ayase isn't a trope. She's powerful, assertive, emotionally intelligent, and deeply human. She drives the story as much as Okarun. She fights back, speaks up, and has her own arc that doesn't revolve around anyone else. She's the main character. Period. And it shows. Why Dandadan stands out from every other anime This series doesn't play it safe. It takes creative risks with every episode—visually, narratively, and tonally. It throws traditional structure out the window and builds something fresher, weirder, and more emotionally resonant. Dandadan isn't trying to fit in. It's too busy starting its own movement. Final thoughts : Why you should watch Dandadan Dandadan is what happens when creative freedom meets zero fear. It's messy, emotional, hilarious, and completely unique. While most anime follow trends or formulas, Dandadan throws them out, then summons a ghost to dance on their graves. It's unpredictable. It's chaotic. And honestly? It's brilliant. Catch it on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu (in select regions) every Thursday. Set a reminder now. Also read| 10 must-watch underrated romance anime to add to your watchlist now

DanDaDan – Season 2 Episode 1 Recap & Review
Like, This Is the Legend of the Giant Snake Episode 1 of DanDaDan Season 2 picks up right where we left off, as Momo is left exposed in the hot spring, forced to fend off the five predatory guys. However, a surprising helper shows up. It's Turbo Granny! Funnily enough, she's been keeping an eye on Momo the whole time, hiding inside her backpack. With the hot spring destroyed, courtesy of Turbo Granny's powers, the authorities show up and chase the guys off, who are revealed to be the Kito family men. However, Turbo Granny has noticed that Jiji's apartment isn't exactly clean either, given its 'covered in blood'. Speaking of which, Okarun and Jiji receive visitors in the form of the Kito family. They don't take kindly to lying, and while Okarun gets a close shave in the form of guessing Jiji's favourite team (courtesy of a poster on the wall), Jiji is not so lucky. When he mentions he hasn't had a girl over (even though he obviously has as Momo has been there) the Kito matriarch is not happy. While this is going on, Momo and Turbo Granny head off to visit the Shrine of the Giant Snake. Folks in these parts used to worship this divine creature, believing it lived deep in the volcano. Every time it got hungry, it burst out and caused eruptions. To try and protect their livelihood and quell the great beast, the villagers decided to sacrifice one of their children to the mountain. For the past 200 years, there hasn't been a single blast. It would appear that there isn't a mythical creature in these parts after all though, chalked off to a man-made superstition. But then this is DanDaDan and honestly, anything could happen here! When Momo shows back up at Jiji's, she's shocked when she finds the entire Kito family waiting for her. With Okarun and Jiji knocked out on the floor, Momo does what she can but there's just too many to fight off. During a break in the action though, the matriarch tells Momo that she's messing with their plans for the festival and they've been protecting this land for generations. This is one of the families that have been making offerings to the Great Serpent up at the volcano. The spot they're standing on in the house (specifically Momo's, given she's in this weird dank room we saw Okarun and Jiji looking in last season) is the place where folks are sacrificed. The Kito family have been inviting people into their house all these years and sacrificing them up. This is what happened to Jiji's family and, unfortunately, this is what they intend to do with tries to get out of the ground as it turns to quicksand but while the entire family are busy handling Momo, Jiji and Okarun spring into action to save her. Things do not look good though, as everybody tumbles down into the belly of the beast. Figuratively speaking anyway… for now. Jiji tumbles down and lands right on the body of what appears to be the Great Serpent. This creature stirs and faces the group, letting out a monstrous roar. It turns out the legend is true after all… kinda. It would appear that this thing is a giant man-eating earthworm, not dissimilar to the one from the front of Okarun's magazines he shared with Momo in season 1 at school. The Kito family have been feeding this thing for the past 200 years and as a result, it's bigger than any reported before. The Kito family decide to chant and do a ritual… which make them easy prey for this deathworm to gobble them up. With the gang gone, the trio are left to fend off against this giant creature… will they come out on top? The Episode Review After a long wait, DanDaDan is back with its second season, and it doesn't waste any time connecting right to the first. We pick up where we left off, with the same slick animation, comedy and action that made season 1 such a hit. The Kito family have this weird Ginyu Force energy to them, as if they're relegated DBZ villains. I mean just look at that pose when the whole family are together! However, this works pretty well and they certainly slot into this crazy, psychedelically charged world. This death worm looks like it could be bad news too and with the Kito family gone, the next set of episodes do look like they're going to turn up the heat – and the action. Whether it'll hit the heights of the fights we saw with Turbo Granny in the tunnel or Acrobatic Silky though remains to be seen. The animation is slick and although the visual style and editing isn't quite at the same level as season 1, it's still early days yet and that could change. Either way though, DanDaDan gets off to a great start, setting everything up for what should be another wild season. Roll on next week!
