Jodie Turner-Smith Shares Cryptic Message Amid Joshua Jackson Custody Drama

Jodie Turner-Smith appeared to shade her ex-husband, Joshua Jackson, amid a disagreement between the two over their daughter's schooling. Turner-Smith and Jackson share one child together, a 5-year-old named Juno. Jackson recently filed an emergency custody order modification ― according to documents obtained by People magazine ― over a development in Juno's education. The 'Dawson's Creek' actor alleges that Turner-Smith abruptly changed Juno's school without his permission. 'Jodie is attempting to create a scenario where Juno travels with her rather than attending a traditional school,' Jackson said in the documents. After news broke of the conflict between the two, Turner-Smith shared a post on Instagram that seemed to call out her ex-husband. The post includes animated photos of cartoon villains and reads ''Why don't you like that person? They seem so nice.' You know who else seemed to be nice.' Turner-Smith added her own commentary in her Instagram stories, writing '🤦🏾♀️ stay safe out there ⚠️.' Reps for Turner-Smith and Jackson did not immediately return HuffPost's requests for comment. The former couple married in December 2019, one year after meeting at Usher's 40th birthday party. Juno was born in April 2020. Turner-Smith would go on to file for divorce in October 2023, citing 'irreconcilable differences.' The 'Queen & Slim' actor previously shared that she doesn't view the two's marriage ending as a 'failure.' 'Sometimes things we really want to work just don't end up working. And that's OK,' she told the U.K.'s Sunday Times in an interview published in 2024. 'The most important thing is that you choose what's healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.' Turner-Smith later shared that the former couple were going through an 'adjustment period' as they learned how to co-parent. 'Nobody hands you a manual,' the actor said in a candid chat with Glamour U.K. last year. 'Everyone's trying to figure it out. Each parent has a different life, and especially if the reason why you're splitting up is because you have different lives, it's only further complicated by how you're going to coparent.' Shortly after divorce, Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner Smith custody dispute escalates Show Caption Hide Caption Actor James Van Der Beek diagnosed with colorectal cancer Actor James Van Der Beek has revealed that he has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. unbranded - Entertainment Less than a month after finalizing their divorce, Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith are locked in a custody dispute. In a May 29 filing, Jackson requested that the court order their daughter Juno, 5, to continue attending the same Calabasas school for the 2025-26 school year and for both parents to reach an agreement before any school change is made. In his filing, the former "Dawson's Creek" star alleged that Turner-Smith, a fellow actor, had failed to communicate with him about changing their daughter's school, and instead chose a new campus over 45 minutes from his home by car. USA TODAY has reached out to Jackson and Turner Smith's representatives for comment. Jodie Turner-Smith speaks out about Joshua Jackson divorce: 'I don't think it's a failure' In a lengthy parenting plan proposed by Jackson's legal team, the actor outlined a desire to keep a relatively stable schedule for Juno despite both parents' careers in the entertainment industry. Turner-Smith, who is currently starring on "The Agency," will be filming in London throughout next year, the filing claims, and Jackson, who lost his home in the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles in January, also expects to be filming, but his project shoots stateside. He plans to move back into the home once it is rebuilt, his lawyers say. The property is a matter of previous dispute for the couple – in a December filing, Turner-Smith said Jackson continues to claim that the Topanga home is his sole property, despite the actress allegedly contributing $800,000 to its down payment. Jodie Turner-Smith, Joshua Jackson won't raise baby in America: 'White supremacy is overt' Arguing in his filing that Turner-Smith was attempting to bend Juno's schooling environment to correspond more easily with her schedule as an oft-traveling model and actress, Jackson doubled down on what he said was the "critical importance" of a consistent peer group and school location. "I started acting at a young age. I have spent a lot of time with on-set or on-locationtutors. Even in the best case, it cannot begin to provide a child with the same nurturing andenrichment, peer relationships and social skills that a classroom and school communityenvironment provides," he wrote. Referencing the tumult of several years defined by family separation and a natural disaster that leveled their family home, Jackson insisted that a school change would be detrimental. "After all of the changes that Juno has had to adapt to, her parents' divorce, and the stress of having our home and her possessions burn to the ground, adding an unnecessary school change cannot be in her interests," he wrote. Jackson and Turner-Smith, who began dating after meeting at Usher's 40th birthday party in 2018, wed in August 2019 and welcomed their daughter in 2020. They separated in 2023 and then finalized their divorce in May.

Joshua Jackson seeks emergency custody order modification against ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith over daughter's schooling

The custody clash between Joshua Jackson and his ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith over their daughter Juno has taken a messy turn. The actor has filed an emergency court motion, claiming that Turner-Smith made a major parenting decision without his consent. School switch sparks dispute On Friday, 30 June, the 'Dawson's Creek' star submitted a legal request to modify the custody order he shares with Turner-Smith. As reported by Us Weekly, according to court documents, Jackson alleged that Turner-Smith moved their five-year-old daughter Juno to a different school without consulting him. Jackson, 46, stated in the documents that Turner-Smith believes it is 'no big deal to force Juno to start over with a new school.' He also raised concerns that 'Jodie is attempting to create a scenario where Juno travels with her rather than attending a traditional school.' Seeking stability for Juno In response, Jackson is asking the court to keep Juno enrolled at her current school for the next year. He's also requesting that both parents must approve any future changes to her schooling together, ensuring decisions are made jointly. This legal move comes not long after Jackson and Turner-Smith finalised their divorce. The pair, who welcomed Juno in April 2020, had previously agreed to share joint legal and physical custody. Divorce finalised but tensions remain Their divorce settlement was signed on 3 May. As reported by Us Weekly, neither party will receive spousal support. Interestingly, the couple listed different dates for their separation – Turner-Smith said they split on 13 September 2023, while Jackson marked it as 30 September 2023. The split was officially confirmed in October 2023, when Turner-Smith filed for divorce after over four years of marriage, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the cause. Both focused on being good parents Despite the recent legal tensions, both Jackson and Jodie have been vocal about putting their daughter first. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in November 2024, she said, 'It's just about center the children and that's all you can do. Nobody gets everything right but at least when you know you're focused on the right thing, you know you're gonna do your best.' Jackson echoed a similar sentiment during an April episode of the podcast Dinner's On Me. 'If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress,' he shared. 'I actually can't conceive of it because I don't even wanna think of the pain that that would be.' He continued, 'Regardless of how messy the divorce is, beautiful the divorce is, easy [or] hard the co-parenting is … I think this generation of dads is understanding, like, 'I need to be here. It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.' It's my job — shared with my ex-wife — to do everything that we can to nurture you, cultivate you and give you all the tools that you need in life.' Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith's Tumultuous Divorce Explained: Claims, Custody Battle, More

Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson were married for four years before she filed for divorce in October 2023. They reached a divorce settlement in May 2025. After one year of dating, the pair tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed daughter Juno together in April 2020. As they hashed out the terms of their divorce, from child support to custody, the couple still managed to be coparents for their child. 'It's just about — center the children and that's all you can do,' Turner-Smith told Entertainment Tonight in November 2024 of parenting while navigating her breakup. 'Nobody gets everything right but at least when you know you're focused on the right thing, you know you're gonna do your best.' Despite their split, Turner-Smith said she doesn't view her marriage to Jackson as a failure. 'Sometimes things we really want to work just don't end up working,' she said in a February 2025 interview with the U.K.'s The Times. 'And that's OK. The most important thing is that you choose what's healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.' Keep scrolling for a look inside Jackson and Turner-Smith's divorce: Us Weekly confirmed Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Jackson after four years of marriage. Per court documents, the actress cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their split and was seeking joint custody of their daughter. Their date of separation was listed as September 13, 2023. 'Joshua was clearly caught off guard by Jodie's decision to divorce,' a source exclusively told Us at the time. 'They had their issues, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child. Joshua obviously didn't realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy.' Jackson countered Turner-Smith's divorce petition with a request to change the date of separation from September 13 to September 30, per court documents obtained by Us. The documents also showed that Jackson asked the court to terminate the ability of either party to pay child support, requesting they both pay lawyer fees. Turner-Smith alleged in court documents obtained by Us that her estranged husband had failed to pay her both child and spousal support since news of their separation broke in October 2023. She requested he pay her $8,543 per month retroactive to the date of her initial filing, as well as $28,641 per month in spousal support while their divorce proceedings continue. Turner-Smith also asked that the court order the Dawson's Creek alum to pay her $250,000 to cover the cost of legal fees. She argued that Jackson had made more money than her during their marriage, accusing him of piling up the attorney's fees by further dragging out their divorce. In her filing, Turner-Smith claimed Jackson had "promised to always support' her and 'ensured' her that she would 'not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother." Turner-Smith claimed her estranged husband was not only refusing her custody time with their daughter, but was allegedly attempting to strip her of legal custody. Us confirmed that Turner-Smith's attorney Laura Wasser had filed a declaration accusing Jackson of refusing to 'allow Jodie to have custodial time' with their daughter while the actress was filming in London. Wasser attended over eight hours of mediation in regards to Turner-Smith's request for custodial time in the summer and fall of 2024. The paperwork also stated that Jackson could be deposed because he and Turner-Smith had not worked out a custody deal for spring and summer 2025. Us reached out to Jackson's rep for comment at the time. Jackson expressed concern over becoming estranged from his daughter due to the divorce. "If I ever did anything to estrange my daughter from myself, I would be in duress," Jackson said during an episode of the 'Dinner's On Me' podcast. "I actually can't conceive of it because I don't even wanna think of the pain that that would be." The Doctor Odyssey star continued, "Regardless of how messy the divorce is, beautiful the divorce is, easy [or] hard the co-parenting is ... I think this generation of dads is understanding, like, 'I need to be here. It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.' It's my job — shared with my ex-wife — to do everything that we can to nurture you, cultivate you and give you all the tools that you need in life." Court documents, per TMZ, showed the couple agreed on most of the terms of their divorce, save for the matter of where their daughter should attend elementary school. Turner-Smith reportedly requested a court order for her to have the power to choose her child's school, so that she can move her daughter to a new school the following year. Jackson, however, has not agreed. Per the docs, the estranged couple came up with a temporary 50-50 custody schedule via a mediator, with Jackson allegedly paying $2,787 per month in child support with no monthly spousal support. Turner-Smith also requested Jackson pay $75,000 for legal fees related to the school issue. According to documents obtained by Us, the exes' divorce settlement was signed on May 3. Jackson and Turner-Smith agreed in the deal that neither party would receive spousal support and they would share joint legal and physical custody of their daughter. Jackson, who made a one-time payment of $133,000 in March, agreed to make another payment in the same amount that month. He will also pay Turner-Smith $2,787 per month in child support, however, the amount could change in the future depending on their incomes.

Joshua Jackson, Jodie Turner-Smith settle divorce after 18-month struggle

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have settled their contentious divorce, more than a year and a half after the 'Queen & Slim' actress first filed. The actors, who met at Jackson's 2018 birthday bash and married the next year, finally reached a settlement, according to new legal documents obtained Saturday by TMZ. The 46-year-old 'Doctor Odyssey' star and Turner-Smith, 38, settled on a lump sum, agreeing he will pay $2,787 in monthly child support and no spousal support, according to the outlet. Although a mediator helped them agree on a temporary schedule for joint custody of daughter Juno, 5, the exes have yet to agree on where the little girl will go to school — but the 'Agency' star has a location in mind and has ensured its proximity to Jackson. Turner-Smith hopes a judge will give her the ability to select a school, even as Jackson refuses to sign off — and that Jackson will pay $75,000 for her attorney's fees regarding the matter. Just before last Christmas, Turner-Smith claimed Jackson owed her $8,543 per month in back child support and $28,641 per month in back spousal support, after he allegedly bailed on more than a year's worth of child and spousal support payments since her divorce filing. At the time, she was seeking $250,000 from Jackson in legal fees, in addition to fees for her forensic accountant, who was charged with ferreting out financial misconduct and irregularities. Jackson, she claimed, 'ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother.' The former couple secretly tied the knot in December 2019. They didn't have a prenup in place when, in early fall 2023, famed divorce attorney Laura Wasser filed Turner-Smith's divorce docs, citing irreconcilable differences. They reached a custody agreement in November 2023. ______
