Former Miss Universe contestant killed in freak accident
A former Miss Universe contestant died earlier this week following a freak accident when an elk smashed through the windshield of her Porsche, according to a report. Kseniya Alexandrova, 30, suffered severe brain injuries when the massive caribou came flying through the windshield of her car while she and her husband were driving in Tver Oblast, Russia, on July 5, People reported, citing Russian outlets. The gorgeous model, who was Vice-Miss Russia in 2017, was in the passenger seat of the Porsche Panamera when the elk leapt into the road and collided with the car, the New York Post reported. Her husband survived, while the beauty pageant contestant suffered significant trauma that kept her in a coma until she died on Friday. 'From the moment it jumped out to the impact, a split second passed. I didn't have time to do anything,' her husband told Russian outlet RIA in a statement. 'The elk flew into the car. The blow hit Ksyusha in the head. She was unconscious, her head was broken, everything was covered in blood,' he said. The heartbroken husband revealed that the front of his beautiful bride's skull was shattered by the elk's legs, which went through the window of the low-to-the-ground sports car. After more than a month in a deep coma, Alexandrova died on August 15, according to her modelling agency. The couple were newlyweds, having just tied the knot four months before the accident, according to the model's popular Instagram account. Former Russian Miss Universe contestant, 30, dies after elk smashes through windshield
A model and former Miss Universe contestant from Russia died last week from injuries she suffered after an elk crashed through the windshield of her Porsche, according to a report. Kseniya Alexandrova, 30, died from severe brain injuries from the accident that occurred while she was driving with her husband in Tver Oblast, Russia, on July 5, Russian news outlet RIA reported. She remained hospitalized in a coma until her death on Aug. 12. Alexandrova and her husband were returning home from Rzhev when the collision with the elk happened on the M‑9 highway, the outlet reported. The husband, who was not named in the report, said there was no time to react to the animal jumping in front of the couple's Porsche Panamera, adding that he and Alexandrova were both wearing seatbelts, and were driving at a low speed during the collision. "From the moment it jumped out to the impact, a split second passed. I didn't have time to do anything," he told the outlet in a statement translated from Russian. Alexandrova, who was in the passenger seat, suffered a head injury when the animal hurtled through the windshield and into the cabin of the car, her husband told the outlet. "She was unconscious, her head was fractured, everything was covered in blood. The frontal bones of the skull were broken – it was an open cranial-brain injury," he said. The couple had been married just four months before the freak accident, according to her Instagram. She was also a psychologist who earned her degree from Moscow Pedagogical State University, according to a November 2022 post on her social media. Miss Universe contestant, 30, is killed in freak accident with her $100K Porsche
A former Miss Universe contestant tragically died in a freak accident when an elk smashed through the windshield of her luxury Porsche. Kseniya Alexandrova, 30, was initially placed in a coma with severe brain injuries following the crash alongside her husband in Tver Oblast, Russia on July 5. The model's husband survived the crash, while she remained in hospital for over a month until she died on Friday. Her husband, who was driving the supercar when the elk jumped out in front of them, said he didn't have time to swerve out of the way before colliding with the animal. 'From the moment it jumped out to the impact, a split second passed. I didn't have time to do anything,' he told Russian outlet RIA. 'The elk flew into the car. The blow hit Ksyusha in the head. She was unconscious, her head was broken, everything was covered in blood.' He said that they were driving slowly at the time and were wearing seatbelts, but the low front of their vehicle meant it collided with the legs of the elk and the airbags did not deploy. The heartbroken spouse said they had married just four months before the crash, and revealed that his wife was making progress for some time as she lay in a coma before she passed away. The model had participated in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant and was a well-known model in her native Russia. Alexandrova's husband said his wife was directly hit as the elk went through their windshield, saying the 'blow hit Ksenia in the head.' 'She was unconscious, her head was smashed, everything was covered in blood. The worst thing is that the frontal bones of the skull were broken. It was clear that there was an open head injury,' he said. He said a passerby stopped and called for an ambulance, which arrived within 15 minutes and raced the Miss Universe contestant to hospital in Rzhev. Doctors decided she had to be transported to Moscow for more intensive treatment, and revealed that she briefly regained consciousness at Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. 'At first, they did not do a second operation. She could not speak because she was on a ventilator, but she was absolutely conscious,' he said. Alexandrova's husband said that they were driving slowly at the time of the crash and were wearing seatbelts, but the low front of their $100,000 Porsche Panamera (seen in a stock image) meant it collided with the legs of the elk and the airbags did not deploy He said medics then carried out a second operation, and although it was initially believed to be successful, she then 'suddenly plunged back into a coma.' 'Meningitis was diagnosed, which turned into more severe inflammatory brain diseases. The tests began to deteriorate, it came to blood sepsis,' he continued. 'Once they were able to start the heart... But the next day Ksenia died - it was not possible to restart the heart.' Tributes poured in for the model following her sudden death, with the Miss Universe pageant extending its 'deepest and most heartfelt condolences' to her family. 'Her grace, beauty, and spirit left an unforgettable mark on the Miss Universe family and beyond,' they wrote. 'May her memory continue to inspire kindness, strength, and love in all those who were fortunate enough to know her.'
