Manitowoc historical society to join national commemoration of Paul Revere's ride of 1775

MANITOWOC – Manitowoc County Historical Society is taking part in a national initiative to display two lights in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States' founding. A declaration from the Historical Society states the importance of "reminding our citizens of the vital significance and relevance of our founding principles and ideals that created a unique national identity worth fighting for." The Two Lights For Tomorrow initiative commemorates the ride of Paul Revere in 1775 to warn of impending action by the British army. The Historical Society is also endorsing a day of community service April 19, calling on all government buildings, community centers, public spaces and citizens to take part in the symbolic display of two lights the night of April 18.
