Man arrested for burglary, car theft in Murfreesboro after fleeing deputies in Cannon County

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is in custody in Murfreesboro after allegedly breaking into a home, stealing a car, fleeing from police, and leading another agency on a high-speed chase before causing a crash on Friday. According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, 21-year-old Tyler Hudson was taken into custody around noon on Friday. He faces charges of aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, retaliation for past actions for targeting a witness who testified against him in a 2023 shooting case, and a parole violation from the Tennessee Department of Correction. READ MORE | Latest headlines from Murfreesboro and Rutherford County The preliminary investigation from MPD revealed Hudson and another masked man broke into an apartment on Saint Andrews Drive and stole a gaming system and a purse containing car keys on Thursday, May 22. The car was reported stolen shortly before 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 23. Real Time Crime Center crime data analysts used LPR technology and the car's tracking system to pinpoint its location. A Murfreesboro police officer then spotted the stolen car on Veterans Parkway early Friday morning. The vehicle sped away, but officers chose not to pursue due to the safety of other drivers. The car was eventually tracked to Cannon County, and deputies with the Cannon County Sheriff's Department pursued the vehicle back into Rutherford County at speeds over 100 mph. Hudson managed to avoid a spike strip laid by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office but then crashed the vehicle at the intersection of John Bragg Highway and South Rutherford Boulevard, causing minor damage, according to Murfreesboro officials. ⏩ Hudson finally stopped at South Rutherford Boulevard and Louise Street, where officers immediately took him into custody. A female passenger in the vehicle jumped out of the stolen car and ran, but MPD officers quickly apprehended her. She was later identified as Myka Marable, 18, of Dickson. She was charged with evading arrest. Hudson remains in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $147,500 bond on his current charges, but is being held without bond for the parole violation. Additional charges may be pending from other agencies, according to MPD. He currently has a hearing set for July 14 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
