Celtic and Rangers face growing competition to sign £10m-rated star, 23, available for knockdown fee
He's a former youth international and can be snapped up on the cheap at just 23 TRANSFER TALK Celtic and Rangers face growing competition to sign £10m-rated star, 23, available for knockdown fee Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EVERY other summer there is at least one player who's linked with both Rangers and Celtic - and so the battle begins. Go back to Nacho Novo in 2004. Or Luis Palma more recently in 2023. And who could forget Scott Brown being courted by both sides of Glasgow in 2007? Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Tyrhys Dolan will be a hot property this transfer window Credit: Getty This year the man who could be the subject of a similar fight is Tyrhys Dolan. The Blackburn Rovers winger has been valued at around £10m but he has ran his contract down at Ewood Park and will be available for a fraction of that. Dolan, 23, made his pro debut with Rovers in 2020 and the Championship club will be a due a compensation fee if he signs elsewhere. Similar rules saw Celtic snap up Moussa Dembele from Fulham on the cheap and Rangers followed a similar route to lure Joe Aribo from Charlton. We told you earlier this month that both Old Firm were tracking Dolan. At that point there was still a chance (however slim) that he would sign an extension at Blackburn. But now that he's all set to leave, it's perhaps no surprise that the list of clubs interested in him has grown. Norwich-based news outlet The Pink Un is reporting that Dolan is on the summer transfer wish list for Norwich City. The Canaries are still waiting to officially unveil new boss Liam Manning but with Rangers yet to have finalised their next manager, it would appear Celtic may have a head start in the race. Claims down south have also suggested Middlesbrough as a potential destination but local reports say those are just rumours at the moment. Rangers fans react as 49ers takeover completed Dolan scored seven goals and provided six assists in 47 games for Blackburn this season. The former England Under-20 international was reportedly on the list of wingers Celtic were considering around the time they convinced Jota to return. But a cruciate ligament injury will keep him out of action until the New Year and with James Forrest not getting any younger, reinforcements will be needed. Rangers will soon part with £4.5m to make the signing of Oscar Cortes permanent but he has struggled with injuries since the day he first arrived at Ibrox. The expiration of Vaclav Cerny's loan deal also leaves whoever takes over at Gers needing to replace the goal threat he offered. 5 burning Celtic transfer headlines on Hatate, Kvistgaarden, Palma and Dolan as Odsonne Edouard 'door open'
It's set to be a busy summer for the Scottish champions as they close in on a domestic Treble Brendan Rodgers won't take his focus off sealing a domestic clean sweep with the Celtic this season. But behind the scenes, the Premiership champions' sights are already set beyond the Scottish Cup final showdown with Aberdeen and on to the transfer window. Celtic will have to navigate the tricky Champions League qualifiers this season if they are to reach Europe's elite competition - and more new faces will be required for the push. But there could also be a clearout of the fringe men - with key figures at the club also likely to attract offers from across Europe. But what is the latest murmurs coming out of Celtic Park? Record Sport takes a look. Reo Hatate In-demand Reo Hatate has been linked with Udinese with clubs on alert across Europe. However, the 27-year-old is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines that could derail any potential Parkhead exit. He will miss the Scottish Cup final this weekend - and pundit Stephen McGinn reckons it will be a long way back for the midfielder. The former Falkirk captain told Go Radio: 'Worrying for trophy day was seeing Reo Hatate in a knee brace. That's never a good sign with someone with a knee injury. 'I think if there is any sign of that being a mid-to-long-term, then they would absolutely need a midfielder, because he is irreplaceable in the Celtic team, at the minute. 'I think Bernardo does okay. Luke McCowan does okay. But neither can be at the level Reo Hatate is. I think if Reo Hatate is fit anyway, I think they need to go and spend a bit of money on a midfielder." Mathias Kvistgaarden has already made it clear he wants to leave Brondby this summer amid long-term interest from Celtic. And now he admits he still has room for improvement after scooping the Player of the Year award in Denmark. With the likes of the Hoops and Eintracht Frankfurt watching on, he told Danish media: "It means even more to me that it is my colleagues who have voted for me (as Player of the Year). "It is an expression of the fact that I have been a good player this season. "When I look back on the season, I also have to admit that I have missed far too many big chances." Luis Palma Olympiacos are unlikely to pick up the £3.5million option to buy on the Celtic loanee - and while Panathinaikos are said to be keen on a deal the winger reckons he could land a second chance in Glasgow's east end. He told El Heraldo: "I have a contract with Celtic; I can't talk about another team. From the moment I have a contract, I have a chance.' Tyrhys Dolan Celtic have not yet made a "formal proposal" to land Tyrhys Dolan, according to reports. The Blackburn Rovers winger has been linked with a move north of the border with his contract expiring this summer - with Rangers also said to be interested in the 23-year-old. The Lancashire Telegraph report that no club has made a formal proposal to Dolan yet - apart from Blackburn. It is claimed the forward is currently on holiday and won't make a decision on his future until next month. Odsonne Edouard With Jota and Kieran Tierney agreeing returns to Celtic Park, Odsonne Edouard 's name has been thrown into the mix by punters online. The Frenchman spent the season on loan at Leicester City from Crystal Palace - but the move proved to be a disaster with his last Foxes appearance coming back in November. With the final Premier League game approaching for already-relegated City, London-based News Hopper report that parent club Palace have left the door open for the 27-year-old to leave the club permanently this summer.

Tyrhys Dolan told to give 'serious thought' to Rangers transfer as Cyriel Dessers makes feelings clear on one accolade
It is your latest update concerning all things Rangers all in one place Tyrhys Dolan has been told if Rangers or Celtic come calling you MUST take it seriously. The Blackburn Rovers winger has been linked with a move north of the border with his contract expiring this summer. In the English Championship he proved seven goals and six assists across 44 games and is one that Sky pundit David Prutton believes always lookins capable of making something happen - a trait both set of supporters love to see. Speaking to Football League World, he said: "He's a good player Tyrhys, always lively, always looks like he's capable of making something happen. "The expectation of him when he went to Blackburn was not directly related to what his output then became, because I think they thought he was a bit of a slow burner and one for the future, but he very much got stuck in and was a big part of a squad that was very competitive in the last few Championship seasons. "I think the frustration with them comes with falling away as and when it mattered i.e. very early spring which meant that at times, barring the final day just now, at times by the time it came to the last knockings they were just firmly and constantly in mid table. "So I think yeah on a free, or compensation given the age of the player potentially, but Christ when one of those two [Celtic and Rangers] come knocking you've got to give it some serious thought." Elsewhere, Cyriel Dessers has taken to social media after finishing the season as the top scorer in the Premiership. The Rangers hitman has notched 29 goals across all competitions with 18 of those coming in the league. He hit the 50 goal milestone in the recent win over Dundee United and while it has been a frustrating domestic campaign for the LIght Blues as a whole, there is some personal pride for Dessers as he ends the season topping the scoring charts. He wrote on Instagram: "Scottish Premiership Top Scorer 2024-25. Not the big trophy we all wanted, but a wee reward for never giving up…" Meanwhile, Rangers pair John Souttar and Connor Barron have been picked for Scotland. Steve Clarke has called up the duo for the June friendlies against Iceland and Liechtenstein. Nathan Patterson - now at Everton and formerly of Rangers - is also back in the fold as is Napoli star Billy Gilmour.
