Seahawks LB Tyrice Knight IV named to NFL All-Breakout Team

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight IV was a revelation for Mike Macdonald's defense last season. Helping replace Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker at off-ball 'backer, Knight was an outstanding fit on defense. The former UTEP standout recorded 88 tackles in 16 games. Knight now enters his sophomore campaign as an unquestioned starter next to Ernest Jones IV. recently put together a 2025 All-Breakout Team for the upcoming season. Knight made the cut at linebacker. "The unheralded fourth-round pick out of UTEP quietly made his mark as a rookie with 88 tackles (three for loss), 1.5 sacks and four QB hits in 16 games," Bucky Brooks wrote. "Knight quickly outplayed his draft pedigree (No. 118 overall), emerging as a disruptive defender on the second level. With Mike Macdonald poised to tap into the second-year pro's skills as a sideline-to-sideline pursuer, the Seahawks might have found another defensive gem to build around." Knight is among the most important defenders on the 2025 Seahawks. Sideline-to-sideline linebackers play a notable role in Coach Macdonald's complex defense. The Jones-Knight partnership proved to be legitimately effective down the stretch of 2024. The second-year pro should be significantly better this year with another offseason of development under his belt. Bleacher Report names Seahawks' most promising building block

The Seattle Seahawks' roster mixes veterans and ascending talents alike. The 2025 Seahawks will be carried (or let down) by the performances of Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp, DeMarcus Lawrence, and company. But developing players like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Charles Cross, Nick Emmanwori, and Grey Zabel will also play a large role in 2025's outcome. The Bleacher Report recently conducted an exercise that names every NFL team's most promising roster building block. For the Seahawks, you'd expect that to be Smith-Njigba or Cross, perhaps. Instead, B/R pulls a mini surprise by naming sophomore linebacker Tyrice Knight. Advertisement "As a rookie, Tyrice Knight settled into a starting role after the Seattle Seahawks released Tyrel Dodson," Moe Moton wrote. "He made the team look smart for making the midseason move. In 16 outings (nine starts), Knight registered 88 tackles, three for loss, two pass breakups and 1.5 sacks. As the unquestioned starter alongside Ernest Jones IV, the second-year pro could lead the team in tackles and help supplement the pass rush." Knight was certainly one of Seattle's most inspiring stories down the stretch of 2024. Now in an unquestioned role next to Ernest Jones IV, the former UTEP standout appears primed for a massive step forward as a sophomore. Linebacker is such an important position in Mike Macdonald's defense. There's every reason to believe Knight will fly around sideline to sideline. According to former NFL linebacker David Wyman of 710 Seattle Sports, Knight is a tick faster in diagnosing what he sees on the field. A big-time season is on the horizon for Knight. Seahawks' 2024 rookie class ranked bottom-five in productivity

Seahawks' 2024 rookie class ranked bottom-five in productivity The Seattle Seahawks are entering the 2025 NFL draft needing to land some instant contributors at various positions. General manager John Schneider needs to select at least two offensive lineman capable of competing for a starting role, and there are additional, albeit less pressing, holes at wide receiver, cornerback, and safety. If the 2024 draft is any indication, Schneider is going to have a tough time finding immediate starters. Pro Football Focus recently ranked the most productive classes from the 2024 NFL draft using their in-house grading system. Unfortunately, the Seahawks had one of the worst-performing rookie classes last year, ranking 29th out of 32. "Seattle's best rookie proved to be fourth-round tight end A.J. Barner, who churned out a 63.7 PFF receiving grade with a 119.0 passer rating when targeted," Bradley Locker wrote. "Fourth-round linebacker Tyrice Knight acquainted himself with a 65.4 PFF overall grade and a 79.6 PFF tackling grade on 550 snaps. Aside from those two, the team's rookies didn't produce much at all. First-round defensive lineman Byron Murphy II finished below a 65.0 mark in both run defense and pass rushing, while Day 3 picks Sataoa Laumea and Nehemiah Pritchett combined for a staggering -0.39 WAR." Rookie first-round pick Byron Murphy II suffered an injury that limited him. The Seahawks will have higher expectations for him as a sophomore. Third-round guard Christian Haynes failed to earn a starting job despite facing weak competition on the interior. The aforementioned Tyrice Knight and A.J. Barner were most productive. The Seahawks need to do a better job drafting instant contributors this year.
