‘FIFA U-17 World Cup will be another spectacular event hosted by Qatar'

Tribune News Network Doha Egyptian football legend, and U-17 head coach, Ahmed Al Kass looks forward to seeing a new generation of players shining on the big stage during the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025. Set to take place in Qatar from 3 – 27 November, this will be the first FIFA World Cup to feature 48 teams. This year's edition marks the first of five consecutive tournaments that Qatar is hosting through to 2029. For Al Kass, a former Egyptian national team player who represented his country's senior side at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the growing legacy of mega-sporting events in Qatar is a true testament to its place as a leading sports capital for the region. 'The world has already witnessed how Qatar delivered a phenomenal World Cup in 2022. The U-17 World Cup will be another spectacular tournament hosted by Qatar,' said Al Kass. 'As Arabs, we are proud that Qatar will play hosts for yet another exciting tournament. We share this pride with Qatar and are happy for the opportunity to play here.' Egypt have been drawn into Group E alongside England, Venezuela and Haiti. Their first match will see them take on Haiti on 4 November at Aspire Zone. Egypt made its last appearance at a FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1997, when it hosted the competition, and reached the quarterfinals. Now 28 years later, a new generation of young Pharaohs will be eager to make history and go even further. 'All the teams in our group have great caliber. Every team will be working hard to produce the best results. 'I hope our players will be able to showcase their strengths on the pitch. We want to see Egypt's flag raised in victory at the World Cup. We want to win it,' said Al Kass. Egypt is one of six Arab teams that have qualified to the tournament. They are joined by hosts Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Morocco. The best achievement historically by any Arab country in the competition was in 1991, when Saudi Arabia lifted the trophy. Bahrain, Qatar and Oman have all claimed fourth spot in 1989, 1991 and 1995 respectively. 'This is a huge achievement for our team to play in the U-17 World Cup after a long absence. We are excited and ready to re-emerge as strong contenders in the championship. I am confident that our young Pharaohs will give their best and make Egypt proud,' said Al Kass. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will take place from 3-27 November 2025 at the state-of-the-art Aspire Zone complex. The first match will see hosts Qatar take on European giants Italy on 3 November. The final match will be held at Khalifa International Stadium, which served as one of the venues for the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. FC Barcelona Officially Announces New Transfer On July 1

FC Barcelona used its official website to announce the outgoing transfer of Barca Atletic star Noah ... More Darvich on Tuesday morning in Catalonia. FC Barcelona used its official website to announce the outgoing transfer of Barca Atletic attacking midfielder Noah Darvich on Tuesday morning in Catalonia. 'FC Barcelona and VfB Stuttgart have reached an agreement for the transfer of Noah Darvich. The club retains a percentage of any future sale of the German midfielder and a right of first refusal. The Club wishes him much luck and success in the future, both personally and professionally,' a statement on the matter read. The club recalled how Darvich joined Barca Atletic from Freiburg in the summer of 2023, which was considered a coup at the time when the youngster was being talked up as one of German football's brightest prospects. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich were just some of the European giants interested in signing Darvich, who Barca managed to land for a reported $3.5 million (€3 million). 'In his first season as a Barcelona player, he made 21 appearances in the Primera Federation. In addition, in December, he won the U-17 World Cup with the German national team. The following season, 2024/25, he began preseason training in the United States with the first team. But throughout the year, despite being called up several times by Hansi Flick, he only made 27 appearances for Barca Atletic,' the club concluded. It is right in that despite making so many appearances for the reserve team, and being called up to train with the seniors, Darvich failed to take the step forward between the two outfits like recent breakthrough stars such as Marc Casado have. Midfield is crowded to say the least in Flick's squad, and in the more attacking berths in the center of the field, Darvich would face competition from the likes of Pedri, Gavi, and Dani Olmo without mentioning Fermin Lopez. 'I am delighted to sign for Stuttgart, it is a very special club. I have regularly followed the Bundesliga and the trajectory of this team; I want to adapt quickly and continue to grow to be successful at this club,' Darvich said, amid being announced by his new club. FC Barcelona can get Darvich back Should he finally begin to fulfill his potential, FC Barcelona can get Darvich back from Stuttgart thanks to the mentioned clause in his contract. As of yet, it's not clear how much it would cost to activate said clause.
