£50m Liverpool star in line for reunion with Jurgen Klopp

Elliott to Leipzig is a possibility Harvey Elliott's future is uncertain right now, since he couldn't really break into the Liverpool first-team on a regular basis last season, despite his best efforts and the fans' wishes, and now Florian Wirtz has been signed to play in his position, so we're left at a loss as to what happens with him. But this should not be a reflection on his form or quality, since the 22-year-old England international helped win his side the U21 European Championship just a few weeks ago, earning the player of the tournament award. It was the second international trophy of his career after the U21 Euros in 2023. As such, we're left in a weird position and he's an increasingly valuable asset for us to sell. The transfer market has seen some bizarre moves this summer, and since Anthony Elanga moved to Newcastle for £55m, a player who is older, hasn't experienced European football, has less goal contributions in his career and has won less, it seems fair that at least £50m should be asked for him. One of the teams in the running for him is Leipzig and a move to Germany is a plausible possibility.

Germany U21 coach: Woltemade rumours not to blame for Euros defeat

Germany's Nick Woltemade (L) reacts during the men's Under-21 European championship final soccer match between England and Germany at National football stadium. Robert Nemeti/dpa Germany under-21 national team coach Antonio Di Salvo said that the defeat to England in the U21 Euros final had nothing to do with the speculation about the future of top player Nick Woltemade. "This story was not the reason for the defeat. Nevertheless, it's sad when ahead of a final a transfer rumour is debated more than the actual game," Di Salvo told Sports Illustrated Germany in an interview published on Friday. Advertisement Two days before the final, media reported that Bayern Munich were interested in signing Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. The forward scored six goals throughout the tournament, but didn't find the target in the final. Germany lost 3-2 to England in extra time. Di Salvo, however, doesn't believe that this open debate could have affected the performance of his team. "Not really." If anything, then it "preoccupied Nick himself." The coach said that Woltemade had told him before the game that talks had been going on in the background for some time and that his mind was only on the final. Advertisement According to recent media reports, Stuttgart have rejected Bayern's first offer for the player. The Bild newspaper said that Stuttgart dismissed the bid shortly after it arrived. It said that Bayern had offered €40 million ($46.7 million) plus €5 million in add-ons. Stuttgart reportedly want much more for Woltemade, who has a contract until 2028. Woltemade, 23, helped Stuttgart win the German Cup last season and won his first two senior caps last month. Bundesliga champions Bayern are looking for reinforcements up front after the exits of Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané and Mathys Tel. They are also without Jamal Musiala for several months due to a fibula and ankle fracture.

Premier League trio show interest in Weiper

Nelson Weiper made a strong impression for Germany at the U21 Euros, scoring four goals. The tall striker's performances in Slovakia appear to have drawn interest from England, with The Sun reporting that Tottenham, Brentford, and West Ham United are monitoring him. Advertisement RB Leipzig have also previously been mentioned as suitors for the 20-year-old, who would reportedly cost around €14 million. Mainz, meanwhile, are keen to extend Weiper's contract beyond the summer of 2026, with the forward expected to take on a bigger role should Jonathan Burkardt leave. However, if an agreement can't be reached, Die Nullfünfer may consider cashing in on the striker.

Toulouse demanding £18million for England U21s star with Sunderland among Premier League clubs keen

CHARLIE CRESSWELL'S stand-out performances for England Under-21s have pushed up his asking price — but that is not putting off buyers. Centre-half Cresswell has starred at the Euros. 2 And French side Toulouse now want £18million for the former Leeds prospect, with the Whites potentially benefitting from a sell-on clause. Several Prem clubs are watching but Serie A sides Atalanta and Como may come up with the cash for the Englishman, a key player for Lee Carsley as his side won the U21s Euros. Sunderland have been linked to the defender, who has three years left on his contract. Cresswell's stock has risen after he played a key role in England U21s' Euros win, with the 22-year-old revealing the Three Lions have always played a big role in his life. He said: "I was brought up with England always a massive part of my childhood. "I'd go to the local pub and I'd be watching the first team with all my mates, my dad's mates and it would be like a big deal. "So for me every time I pull on an England shirt it feels like an honour, a huge honour. I'm immensely proud that I get to do this. "For me to go out there and give my everything it's the least I can do." Roma and Napoli have also been linked to Cresswell, who has made 34 appearances for Toulouse since he joined last year. He helped them to a 10th-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

Di Salvo: Outside noise around Woltemade not the reason for defeat

Germany coach Antonio Di Salvo gestures on the sidelinesduring the men's Under-21 European championship final soccer match between England and Germany at National football stadium. Martin Baumann/TASR/dpa Germany under-21 coach Antonio Di Salvo stressed that the outside noise around their star player Nick Woltemade didn't affect the team as they lost the U21 Euros final against England 3-2 on Saturday. Woltemade is currently under contract at VfB Stuttgart, but his strong performances and stellar rise have attracted the interested of German giants Bayern Munich. Advertisement Ahead of the final, several media reports said that Woltemade has reached an agreement with Bayern should a summer transfer be possible. "First of all, I don't know to what extent it's true or not. But it didn't have any influence because the team didn't deal with it," Di Salvo said after the game. "And Nick, sure, he reads and hears things, but I spoke to him and it was all fine. In the end, the thing is that we got into the game really badly and that was the deciding factor," he added. Di Salvo admitted that the "whole outside noise" wasn't ideal, "but that wasn't the reason why we lost the game." Advertisement Wilson Weiper and Paul Nebel cancelled out England's 2-0 lead from Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson to force extra time. But Jonathan Rowe scored shortly after coming on to give England a 3-2 victory. Nebel said that suggestions that Woltemade's future affected the team were "complete rubbish." "Nick was completely focussed on this game and really wanted to win with us," he said. Di Salvo: 'Football god not on our side' The dramatic game also saw Germany hit the bar twice and Di Salvo said that "the football god was not on our side. The team is sad, but I can't blame them." Advertisement "I'm a very proud coach of a U21 team that has really improved over the last two years, had great team spirit, played great football and touched and moved a lot of people in Germany," the coach said. Defender Tim Oermann said he felt "a lot of emptiness" after the disappointing defeat. "Football is simply a momentum sport. It's been an incredible journey and that's why it's so disappointing," he said. Big hopes for the future The German Football Federation (DFB), however, has confidence in this generation in view of the future of the senior national team. Advertisement "Despite the bitter defeat in the final after extra time, our U21 national team players will benefit from this experience throughout their careers. I am sure that we will see some of them again in the senior national team," DFB sporting director Rudi Völler in a statement from the federation. Coach Di Salvo succeeded in "putting together a real team that is not only highly talented, but also plays with a lot of heart. A team that has also fought through difficult moments," Völler added. Germany senior team coach Julian Nagelsmann followed the game from the stadium. Some players in the squad, such as Woltemade, have already been nominated to the senior squad.
