Pirlo has been appointed head coach of United FC, Dubai United. Pirlo signed a two-year contract aiming to elevate the club in the UAE First Division League.
Former Italy captain Andrea Pirlo has officially been appointed as the new head coach of United FC, the Emirati second-tier club confirmed on Friday.
Pirlo, 46, has signed a two-year contract with the club, also known as Dubai United, which competes in the UAE First Division League—one level below the country's top-tier Pro League.
The move marks a significant step for both Pirlo and the club as they look to climb the ranks of Emirati football.
A central figure in Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning squad and a former midfield maestro for AC Milan and Juventus, Pirlo transitioned into coaching after retiring in 2017. He has previously managed Juventus, Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük, and most recently led Sampdoria.
'We are proud to welcome Andrea to the United FC family," said club president Ilie Cebanu.
'He embodies the values and ambitions of our club, and we believe he will be a key figure in taking us to the next level," he added.
