UAE National MMA Championship kicks off tomorrow in Al Ain
23 May 2025 22:00 ABU DHABI (WAM)The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation will host the fourth UAE National MMA Championship at ADNEC Centre Al Ain from May 24-25, 2025, attracting 300 male and female athletes from across the championship is part of the federation's agenda to spread mixed martial arts across the UAE and broaden its appeal across various age championship features multiple divisions, including Youth D (ages 10–11), Youth C (ages 12–13), Youth B (ages 14–15), Youth A (ages 16–17), and the adult category (ages 18 and above). Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Head of Events and Activities at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said that the championship marks a pivotal step in the development of mixed martial arts in the country. He highlighted its role in fostering community engagement and instilling values of discipline and perseverance among the younger generation.

Al Ain to Host Fourth UAE National MMA Championship
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation will host the fourth UAE National MMA Championship at ADNEC Centre Al Ain on May 24 and 25, 2025. The event is expected to draw around 300 male and female athletes from across the UAE representing various age categories and clubs. The Federation's decision to organise the event in Al Ain Region shows its dedication to spreading mixed martial arts across the UAE. It also seeks to expand the sport's grassroots base and provide a professional setting for young athletes to improve their technical and physical talents. The championship features multiple divisions, including Youth D (ages 10–11), Youth C (ages 12–13), Youth B (ages 14–15), Youth A (ages 16–17), and the adult category (ages 18 and above), offering athletes a platform to compete, improve, and progress toward elite-level representation. Mohammed Jassim Al Hosani, a member of the Federation's Mixed Martial Arts Committee, said: 'The UAE National MMA Championship, which has five rounds throughout the year, is vital to our championship calendar. Its growth in participation and geographic variety highlights the success of our nationwide development initiatives.' 'Hosting this round in Al Ain shows our commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity for athletes nationwide. With the inclusion of the Adults division, the championship's intensity is increased, and athletes are exposed to a variety of competitive methods and skill sets.

The final day of the championship featured competitions in the Youth A (16-17 years old) and Adult (18 years and above) categories. Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran, board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, praised the success of the championship, highlighting the strong turnout and broad participation from clubs and academies across the country. 'The UAE National MMA Championship supports the federation's vision of growing the practitioner base, identifying talent, preparing future champions, and strengthening the presence of mixed martial arts in the local sports scene,' he said. 'The involvement of different age groups reflects our commitment to building generations capable of competing at the highest levels locally, regionally, or internationally. 'This third edition is also a key milestone in preparing our athletes for upcoming competitions, especially the sixth edition of the IMMAF Youth World Championship, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in July 2025,' he added. Ekonian Andenet, a coach at ADMA Academy, said: 'Our team took part in today's competitions with more than 40 male and female athletes. This tournament is significant to us because it brings together top-level participants from clubs and academies across the country. It gives our athletes a valuable chance to test their skills, apply what they've learned in training, and prove they can win and earn medals. It also helps strengthen their preparation for international competitions.' Saif Al Jneibi from ADMA, who won gold in the Youth Boys welterweight (under-77.1kg) division, said: 'I'm happy to be competing in the tournament for the second time. I lost in the last edition by submission, but I didn't give up and kept training hard. I had strong support from my family, coach, and teammates at the club, and today I managed to take first place. The matches were tough. I thank the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation for their continued support and for organising top-level tournaments.'

Dubai to host third edition of UAE National MMA Championship
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation has announced that the third edition of the UAE National MMA Championship will take place on April 12 and 13, 2025, at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. The championship is part of the federation's continuous efforts to promote mixed martial arts nationwide and provide a competitive platform for identifying and developing emerging talent. The third edition is expected to draw wide participation from male and female athletes representing clubs and academies across the UAE, reflecting the championship's growing significance in the national sports calendar. The competition will feature several age divisions, starting with Youth D (ages 10–11), followed by Youth C (ages 12–13), Youth B (ages 14–15), Youth A (ages 16–17), and the Adults category (ages 18 and above). The federation confirmed that the weight divisions for each age group have been approved in line with international standards, ensuring fair competition among athletes within the same category. The approved competition format is also designed to raise the overall level of performance by motivating athletes to perform at their peak. At the end of the championship, the top athletes in each age and weight category will be crowned.
