Who should be the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week?

Golf season is over in the Lone Star State, but baseball, softball and tennis continue as the spring semester comes to a close. Standouts from each sport are among this week's nominees for the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week. Advertisement The Globe-News is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@ by messaging the Globe-News through its Facebook page or on Twitter @amarilloglobe. Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks. The poll will close Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week. Take a moment to look at some of the top performances in the last week and vote on Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week This Week's Finalists Bo Bradley, Texline boys golf — Bradley placed first individually at the Class 1A UIL State Golf Tournament, shooting 74 strokes over 18 holes to claim the state title. Lauren Brooks, Canyon girls tennis — Brooks earned a spot at the UIL State Tennis Tournament with a 3-0 showing at the Region I-4A tournament. The Lady Eagles' standout earned a bye in the first round of the state tournament with his performance. Gabby Dishong & Emmalee Sillivent, Randall girls tennis — The girls doubles duo of Dishing and Sillivent turned in a 3-0 performance at the Region I-4A tournament, going 3-0 to earned a bye in the first round of the UIL State Tennis Tournament. Jesse Flores, West Plains baseball — Flores notched four RBIs on two hits to help lead the Wolves to a series win against Mountain View in the area round of the playoffs. Jackson Langford, Randall boys golf — Langford placed fourth individually at the Class 4A UIL State Golf Tournament, shooting 147 in two rounds and helping the Raiders to a fourth-place finish in the team standings. Angel Ochoa, Booker boys tennis — Ochoa earned a spot at the UIL State Tennis Tournament with a 3-0 showing at the Region I-1A tournament. The Kiowas' standout earned a bye in the first round of the state tournament with his performance. Yaritza Vargas, Dumas softball — Vargas notched two clutch hits during the Demonettes' win against Brownwood in the regional semifinals. The sophomore hit an inside-the-park home run to tie the game at 6-6, later knocking a two-RBI triple into the outfield to put Dumas ahead 8-6.
