Benicio del Toro treasures his signed copy of David Bowie film The Man Who Fell To Earth

Benicio del Toro says a signed copy of David Bowie's film 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' is one of his most treasured possessions. The 58-year-old actor is a Bowie super-fan and he was once lucky enough to work with the late rock legend on the 1996 film 'Basquiat', which is about the life of American postmodernist/neo expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Benicio owned the 1976 science-fiction film 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' - which stars Bowie as alien Thomas Jerome Newton who is on a mission to transport water back to his drought-suffering home planet - and had to get his musical hero to add his signature to his copy. Appearing on the 'Soundtracking with Edith Bowman' podcast, he said: "My introduction to Bowie was 'Let's Dance' and on the other album that had 'Blue Jean', the follow-up, but I've always admired him. "But I do remember, you know, I had a laser disc of 'The Man Who Fell to Earth', I love that movie. Well, he did sign the laser disc for me. And I, I really treasure that, you know? It was like, I don't know, I had this thing of going, like, 'Hey, you gotta sign this.' And it was just very gentle. 'I just love that album 'Live Santa Monica '72' and 'Station to Station', 'Low'. "He had a lot of, like, you know crowd rock with Brian Eno. They had a lot of stuff going on." When working on 'Basquiat' with Bowie - who played pop artist Andy Warhol in the movie - Benicio admits it was a surreal moment being face-to-face with his idol. In a previous interview with UPROXX, Benicio - who can be seen in Wes Anderson's new film 'The Phoenician Scheme' - said: "I remember walking into the makeup trailer, and there he was. And he just sat right next to me. He was very normal. Very normal, very polite. I was just like beside myself sitting there looking at myself and going like, 'Can you believe it?' Looking at myself in the mirror, I'm sitting right next to David Bowie. But you know, he signed some things for me."

Watch: Joey Bada$$ Stops By ‘Sound Check With Jeremy Hecht' To Choose Between New York Legends Jay-Z & Nas

Source: Courtesy / UPROXX Studios The fire guests just keep on coming! This week, Brooklyn rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ joins host Jeremy Hecht for UPROXX's Sound Check, a new weekly interview series revealing your favorite artist's musical taste. Each high-stakes, 12-round episode features a carefully curated playlist of impossible choices, unearthing some never-before-heard stories and creative influences. This episode was recorded about an hour before Joey went into the booth and recorded his game-shaking verse during the Red Bull Spiral cypher with Ab-Soul and Big Sean at the Red Bull studios. Everyone in the hip hop community is aware of the current East coast vs. West coast battle that Joey just so happens to be in the middle of. With that being the case, it only make sense that he was forced to choose between songs from two of his favorite artists of all time – 'Changes' by Tupac ft. Talent and 'Sky's The Limit' by The Notorious B.I.G. ft. 112. Joey chose the Pac classic and said. 'I think the Tupac 'Changes' one is definitely like, that's probably number one…that's a generational classic…That joint it just do something to you…I probably listen to 'Sky's The Limit' more though, but I gotta give it to 'Changes'.' As a New York native, being a fan of both Jay-Z and Nas is almost embedded in you. Later in the episode, Joey had to pick which track he preferred from two of his favorite albums of all time – 'Dead Presidents II' by Jay-Z and 'World Is Yours' by Nas. The 30 year-old decided on the former: 'Out of the two songs that you play for me, I got to go 'Dead Presidents'…as much as I love Ilmatic, 'World is Yours' is not my favorite joint on there, you know what I'm saying. Like if you played 'It Ain't Hard to Tell' then it would have been a different conversation you know what I mean but…it's funny that 'Dead President' is not my favorite song on Reasonable Doubt either…'Friend or Foe' is probably my favorite.' In the final round, Hecht flips the script and turns the tables on himself by attempting to guess the track Joey says represents his entire life. Given two options—'Bag Lady' by Erykah Badu and 'Something About Us' by Daft Punk—Hecht correctly guessed 'Something About Us'. When asked about his song selection, Joey answers, 'That's my favorite song of all time…I can't even remember when I found that song um, that's on their Discovery album and uh I don't know bro it's just like it's so funky but it got like a hip-hop kind of R&B element to it, and then it's like when the words come it's like the perfect words bro…like me and my daughter listen to that song, it's one of her favorite songs now too.' The weekly interview series revealing your favorite artist's musical taste consists of high stakes 12-round episodes that feature a carefully curated playlist of impossible choices, unearthing some never-before-heard stories and creative influences. The show has previously hosted guests including Big Sean, Rico Nasty, The LOX, DaBaby and more. On Episode 6, host Jeremy Hecht sits down with Pontiac, Michigan rapper and streamer DDG. DDG is a self proclaimed Lover Boy. Considering that, Jeremy presented him with two songs that feel like falling in love – 'Bed Peace' by Jhené Aiko ft. Childish Gambino and 'U My Everything' by Sexyy Redd ft. Drake. The 27 year-old chose the latter by stating, 'Definitely Sexyy Red. That's my vibe. Sexyy Red like Top 5 for me…Female Artists of all time. Cardi B is number 1, number two I would say is Latto, number 3, Glo Rilla, number 4…Sexyy Red, and number 5…Bhad Bhabie. Later, Hecht forced DDG to choose between two current rap GOATs – 'Back To The Moon' by Gunna from Furious 7 and 'Constantly Hating ' by Young Thug ft Birdman. After consideration, DDG picked Gunna. He explained by saying, 'Tough…I ain't gon lie, I like the Gunna song a lil bit more. Gunna's just one of my favorite artists right now. I like the lyrics, and the feel of the song…it feel real effortless. And I've been in the studio with Gunna so I've seen how he records. you can tell its just real organic and it's just talent, you know.' In the final round, Hecht flipped the script and turned the tables on himself by attempting to guess the track DDG says represents his entire life. Given two options—'Nobody Gets Me' by SZA and 'Love' by Keyshia Cole—Hecht incorrectly guesses 'Love'. When asked about his song selection, DDG answers, 'Well I listened to her album when it first came out…and everybody was going crazy on 'Snooze', but I think they was sleeping on 'Nobody Gets Me.''
