Two-vehicle crash sends four to hospital in Augusta County

A two-vehicle crash in Augusta County resulted in serious injuries May 2. At approximately 11:12 a.m. along Route 262, a 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup truck was traveling southbound toward Interstate 81 when it crossed the median and the northbound lanes before going up an embankment, according to Virginia State Police. The Silverado then came back into the northbound lanes and struck a 2023 Hyundai Sonata, police said. The driver and the two passengers in the Sonata all suffered serious injuries and were taken to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. The driver of the pickup was taken to Augusta Health, per state police. Virginia State Police are still investigating the crash. Med-Flight-1 aids injured hiker in Amherst County rescue mission

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police's Med Flight-1 responded to rescue and injured hiker along the Cashaw Creek Trail System in Amherst County on Sunday, April 20. Virginia State Police Senior Trooper Pilot Andy Wood, Chesterfield Firefighter Chris Orr, and Chesterfield Lieutenant Mike Abbott then flew the 87 nautical miles to the site. (Photo Credit: Virginia State Police) When crews arrived on scene, surrounded by trees, firefighter Orr was on the ground to assist the juvenile patient into the Baumin Bag to hoist the patient into the helicopter. The patient was flown to UVA Medical Center. Med-Flight is currently in its 41st year and is a publicly funded operation therefore does not charge for its services.
