Udayaprakash, remembered by many for his chilling performance as one of Khushboo's overbearing brothers in the 1991 hit 'Chinnathambi', had all the makings of a memorable screen villain. Born Manikandan in Ooty, Udayaprakash was the son of a disciplined army officer. A passion for acting drew him to Chennai, where he began struggling to make his mark in an industry known for being as unforgiving as it is glamorous. His real break came by chance. A producer visiting a mansion to meet actor Pari instead encountered Udayaprakash and was taken by his rugged looks and intense gaze. That led to his role in the Telugu film 'Vyjayanthi IPS' (1990), opposite Vijayashanthi, which opened doors in both the Tamil and Telugu industries.
