Football club selling Oasis-inspired jerseys to help family devastated by cancer
A football club has unveiled a unique one-off fundraiser jersey with a design twist inspired by the iconic Bohemian FC x Oasis collaboration.
Templeogue United's Over-35s team is selling jerseys to raise urgent funds for the O'Neill family, lifelong Templeogue United members who have dedicated over 30 years of service, passion, and heart to the club.
The campaign's message is simple: "'Some might say' it's just a jersey, but for Templeogue, it's about being Together For The O'Neills."
Tragedy has struck the family not once, but twice. 20 years ago, they lost their 15-year-old son Tiernan to cancer. Now, heartbreakingly, their 17-year-old son Ultan has also been diagnosed with the disease.
Barry McCarthy, team member and campaign organiser, said: "With the nation gripped by Oasis fever, in particular by men and women of my vintage, we designed a jersey that would be the perfect accessory for fans who also want to give something to an amazing cause.
"The O'Neills have given so much to this club for decades, and now it's our turn to give something back."
The specially designed jersey is both a tribute to the O'Neills' strength and a rallying cry for support from the Templeogue community. Every cent raised will go directly to the family to help ease financial and emotional burdens during Ultan's battle.
While the design is a nod to Bohs' famous Oasis collaboration, it carries its own twist by spelling out OVER35S in a manner that mimics the Manchester band's iconic logo.
In addition to the jersey fundraiser, the club will host a star-studded concert at The National Basketball Arena on August 21 featuring The High Kings, Abbaesque, Keith Barry, Luke Thomas, Steptacular Stage School, and WTA Dance Studio.
