Myntra launches Glamstream: A shoppable video platform inside its app- Explained

Myntra has rolled out a new content-commerce feature called Glamstream, offering users a video-led shopping experience directly from the app. It brings together over 500 hours of shoppable content across music, travel, wedding vlogs, beauty tutorials, podcasts and more — all tied to Myntra's product catalogue. Myntra's Glamstream brings 500+ hours of shoppable content featuring Bollywood stars, influencers and everyday creators. The new platform is part of Myntra's strategy to turn inspiration into instant shopping. Shoppers can view content featuring over 100 familiar faces from Bollywood, OTT and social media including Badshah, Tabu, Zeenat Aman, Raveena Tandon, Vijay Deverakonda, Tamannaah Bhatia, Malaika Arora and Khushi Kapoor, among others. Each video includes clickable product tags, allowing users to view item details and add to cart in just a couple of taps. Glamstream isn't just about celebrities. It also features user-generated videos through Ultimate Glam Clan (UGC) — Myntra's creator community that now has over 1 million registered shopper-creators and 4.5 billion content views since its launch in August 2024. This mix of celeb-driven content and creator-led storytelling forms the base of Myntra's new content-to-commerce model. All content lives inside the Myntra app and can be accessed through a floating action button on the homepage. Shopping through video, not search Unlike typical online shopping, Glamstream flips the process. Instead of searching for products, users discover them inside bite-sized, binge-worthy content. The app's tech supports real-time product tagging and quick checkout without leaving the video experience. According to Myntra, this approach is aimed at Gen Z and young shoppers who prefer social feeds and real-life reviews over polished catalogues. The company plans to expand Glamstream with features like AI-based personalised product suggestions, creator storefronts, and new formats that merge entertainment with shopping. India's creator economy is already influencing over $300 billion in spending annually, and could cross $1 trillion in the next few years, according to BCG. Myntra says Glamstream will continue to evolve as a destination where content and commerce go hand in hand.

Online fashion retailer Myntra has seen over a million content creators register on its shopper-led creator programme, Ultimate Glam Clan , chief executive Nandita Sinha told ET in an interview.'The creator economy has revolutionised the way communication is happening to cater to different user bases,' said Sinha, adding, 'There are about 100 million Gen Z consumers shopping fashion online and this number is supposed to grow to 250 million in 3–4 years. We are looking at video content to fuel the shopping journey of Gen Z shoppers.'Launched last August, the Ultimate Glam Clan programme has seen 16% of Mytra's monthly active users engaging with the content. 'The people who see this content, are converting at a 28% higher rate,' said Sinha. Myntra logged 75 million users on its platform in the Ultimate Glam Clan programme, users can register to become a content creator and create content on the platform's products. In 2023, Myntra had launched Myntra Minis, a short video form platforms are increasingly engaging with video commerce and collaborating with content creators. Earlier this month, for instance, Flipkart launched 'Creator Cities', which are production studios, in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurugram, for content creators affiliated with the platform. Rival Amazon has been engaging in content commerce to drive sales through user-generated content and live commerce on its app.'There are almost 2.5 million creators in the country generating about $300 billion worth of revenue. This number is supposed to go to $1 trillion in the coming years, which makes us the fastest growing creator economy globally,' Sinha told FY24, Myntra turned profitable for the first time. The Bengaluru-based company posted a net profit of Rs 31 crore on operating revenue of Rs 5,122 crore.'We continue to grow much ahead of the market and we also continue to build capabilities in new areas,' Sinha told ET. 'We are investing in building MNow, which is a capability very unique to us and also scaling Forward, which is a destination for GenZ shoppers.'In recent years, Myntra has also been focusing on verticals beyond fashion, and beauty has been a key segment. 'Beauty is one of our fastest growing segments. We are growing almost double that of market growth. Whether it is our Gen Z consumers or our Ultimate Glam Clan programme, we are seeing beauty become an important part of each strategic pillar that we are building,' Sinha July, Myntra announced that it will be onboarding 500 direct-to-consumer (D2C) beauty and grooming brands by the end of the year, as part of a programme called Myntra Rising added that Myntra is scaling up new categories such as home in the metros. Meanwhile, it is also expanding to reach non-metro cities to tap the tier two May, Myntra received fresh funding of Rs 1,062.5 crore ($124 million) from its Singapore-based parent entity, FK Myntra Holdings. The company has also expanded its services to Singapore through Myntra Global Myntra also rolled out a 30-minute delivery service, M-Now , in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai earlier this month, after piloting it in Bengaluru last December with about 10,000 stock-keeping units. ET had reported on December 4 last year that the online fashion company planned to take the service to Mumbai, Delhi and Pune.

Myntra's Ultimate Glam Clan passes five lakh creator sign-ups, driven by Gen Z

Myntra has seen over five lakh users join its 'Ultimate Glam Clan' since the initiative launched in September. Positioned as India's largest shopper-led creator programme, it enables users to share fashion and beauty product reviews through short-form content on the platform to boost engagement. According to Myntra, Gen Z shoppers have driven the growth of the programme, accounting for 67% of recent sign-ups, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. The brand said the initiative is redefining how consumers interact with products online by encouraging authentic, user-generated content. Myntra's Ultimate Glam Clan reached a total of four lakh creators on March 3 this year, Myntra announced on Facebook at the time. 'The growth of this programme is a testament to the growing demand for authentic, user-generated content and feedback loops in the digital ecosystem," said Myntra's chief marketing officer Sunder Balasubramanian Indian Retailer Bureau reported. "At Myntra, we understand that today's consumers, especially Gen-Z, prioritise authenticity when making purchasing decisions, and this programme is our way of creating a platform that shares real, relatable experiences between fellow shoppers. This enhances trust and the connection customers feel when making purchases, making their shopping journey more personal.' The platform's tiered structure enables users to advance through levels such as 'Expert', 'Leader', and 'Trendsetter', unlocking greater rewards and visibility. Average payouts have reached Rs 900 per month, with top creators earning up to Rs 2 lakh. Myntra reported a 2% increase in app engagement per user since the programme's launch, supported by tools including a real-time analytics dashboard for content optimisation.
