Jonathan Anderson debuts Dior menswear collection with Kylian Mbappé

Jonathan Anderson has shared a glimpse of his upcoming debut menswear collection for Dior, with teaser videos featuring French soccer star Kylian Mbappé. The clips, posted on social media, give a first look at the highly anticipated Dior Spring 2026 menswear collection, set to debut on Friday at 2:30 p.m. during Paris Men's Fashion Week. The videos feature Mbappé, the Real Madrid forward and 2018 World Cup champion, wearing two distinct looks. In one clip, he adjusts a red-and-blue striped tie over a blue-and-white striped shirt, paired with a gray herringbone wool jacket. In another, Mbappé sports a classic black tuxedo with a white shirt and a loosely tied black bow tie. The teaser videos are set to Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, adding a timeless elegance to the visuals. Anderson, who is known for his bold and eclectic fashion choices, highlighted Mbappé as the perfect ambassador for Dior. "Kylian Mbappé is the voice of a generation," Anderson stated, praising the athlete's influence on both the sports world and beyond. Mbappé has been a global ambassador for Dior since 2021, representing the brand's ready-to-wear collections and Sauvage fragrance. His collaboration with the French fashion house follows Louis Vuitton's announcement that it will dress Real Madrid players, including Mbappé, for major events. Anderson's debut collection promises to offer a more conservative direction compared to his previous avant-garde designs at Loewe.

ALL TIED UP: Jonathan Anderson has been teasing his debut menswear collection for Dior with images of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Lee Radziwill on social media. Now the Irish designer has unveiled the first looks in a couple of videos featuring a modern-day icon, French world champion soccer player Kylian Mbappé. More from WWD Darnell Strom to Head United Talent Agency U.K. Office Virgil Abloh's Career and Cultural Impact Detailed in Robin Givhan's New Book Jonathan Anderson's Team at Dior Includes Buzzy Footwear Designer Against the soundtrack of Schubert's 'Unfinished Symphony,' the Real Madrid star is shown fixing his striped red-and-blue tie over a blue-and-white striped shirt, topped with a flecked gray herringbone wool jacket. In another short clip, he dons a classic black tuxedo with a white shirt and undone black bow tie. 'Kylian Mbappé is the voice of a generation and an inspiration to many people in the world of sport and beyond. These films show the charm and charisma that make him the perfect ambassador for this house,' Anderson said in a statement. The Dior spring 2026 menswear show, scheduled for Friday at 2:30 p.m., is the most eagerly awaited show of the menswear season. The first looks hint at a more conservative direction for Anderson, who's been known to dress men in frilled bloomer-shorts and multicolored patchwork sweaters. The French fashion house tapped Mbappé as a global ambassador in 2021 to represent its ready-to-wear lines and Sauvage fragrance. The teaser on Tuesday comes days after Louis Vuitton, which like Dior is owned by luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, announced it would be dressing Real Madrid players, including Mbappé, for major travel and events. Anderson is known for his eclectic choice of celebrity ambassadors, having featured the likes of Daniel Craig, Maggie Smith and Greta Lee in his campaigns during his 11-year tenure as creative director of Loewe. Classics for Koha: Local music community comes together for concert

Professional saxophonist and teacher Yevhenia Zinenko will perform Glazunov's Saxophone Concerto. The local music community is coming together, with Hawke's Bay Orchestra set to be joined by players from around the region in a Classics for Koha concert in Napier. The concert will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 6.30pm and entry is by koha or donation. HBO's orchestra manager Alice Sip says: 'We are thrilled to be able to put on a concert that not only involves our community's musicians, but that also is accessible to the broader community. It's a way of getting music into people's lives, some of whom may not have experienced the joy of classical music before.' Jose Aparicio will once again conduct the orchestra through a programme of Stravinsky Suites for Small Orchestra, the Glazunov's Saxophone Concerto, and Schubert's Unfinished Symphony. Alexander Glazunov was one of the great masters of late Russian romanticism and was fascinated by the saxophone and by jazz. The concerto for alto saxophone is Glazunov's last work and since its premiere in 1934, has become part of the standard saxophone repertoire.
