DP World reports strong H1 2025 results: revenue up 20.4%, container volumes rise 6.7%
DP World on Thursday announced strong financial and operational results for the first half of 2025, underlining the resilience of its integrated global trade platform amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Revenue grew by 20.4% year-on-year to $11,244 million, driven by strong performance across Ports & Terminals and recent acquisitions. Adjusted EBITDA rose 21.4% to $3,033 million, while container volumes increased 5.6% on a like-for-like basis, reaching 45.4 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) across the global portfolio. Commenting on the results, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, said, 'We are pleased to report strong first-half results, with both revenue and EBITDA growing by over 20%. Ongoing geopolitical tensions, the continued closure of the Red Sea route, and rising uncertainty around global trade tariffs have caused significant disruption across the industry. Despite these challenges, our strategy of delivering integrated end-to-end solutions and operating critical infrastructure in key markets has allowed us to continue supporting cargo owners to move their freight and to deliver a strong set of results.' DP World continues to invest in strategic growth markets, with $1.08 billion in capital expenditure during the first half of the year. The full-year capex target of $2.5 billion will support expansion in Jebel Ali Port, Drydocks World, Tuna Tekra (India), London Gateway (UK), and Dakar (Senegal), along with DP World Logistics and P&O Maritime Logistics. These investments are focused on enhancing terminal capacity, supply chain integration, and digital capabilities to support long-term trade resilience. Across terminals where DP World has operational control, the company handled 27.4 million TEU, an increase of 7.5% year-on-year. Through Unifeeder, DP World offers efficient and sustainable multimodal transport solutions that ensure connectivity for global shipping lines and cargo owners. This has been particularly important amid recent disruptions to global supply chains, where our extensive network has played a crucial role in helping customers maintain cargo flows and delivery reliability. DP World's freight forwarding platform now spans approximately 300 locations and covers more than 90% of global trade lanes. WAM

Hope-on Ambulance to serve isolated islands of Kadamakkudy panchayat
KOCHI: The travel difficulties that Kadamakkudy residents face, and the lack of access to healthcare are what spurred the authorities to look for a project that would guarantee the public's well-being. The end product is a green boat ambulance, perhaps the first-of-its-kind initiative in India. With little or no road transportation facilities, the residents of Kadamakkudy panchayat often find it difficult to access healthcare facilities. 'The only facility they had was a private vessel which was hired to operate as an ambulance. However, it was decommissioned on March 31, as it was no longer in a condition to operate. The Hope-on Ambulance thus aims to serve the local people,' said K N Unnikrishnan, Vypeen MLA. The boat will be operating in Moolampilly, Valya Kadamakkudy, Cheriya Kadamakkudy, Murickal, Palium Thuruth, Chennur, Kothaad, Koraampadu, Karikkaam Thuruth and Kandanadu islands. The project was launched with the cooperation of Unifeeder, an international logistics company, and Planetearth, a Kochi-based NGO. 'There are around 2,400 people in the panchayat who need treatment for various conditions, according to unofficial data. The project will benefit pokkali farmers, MGNREG employees, fishermen and others in the area,' he added. The ambulance dispensary is equipped with the necessary medical equipment for OP consultation and primary ICU care. The timing of the ambulance is from 9 am to 4 pm, at fixed schedules. Minister for Law and Industries P Rajeeve will launch the project on May 18. 'The medical staff will visit the islands once a week to examine patients and provide medication and other treatment. There will be a team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and attendants. The panchayat will bear the fuel charges and boat maintenance expenses, while the salaries of the doctor and other medical staff members will be borne by the NHM,' said Krishnakumar, Unifeeder assistant general manager.

Marine dispensary, ambulance to be launched on May 18
A marine dispensary and ambulance service will be launched here on Sunday (May 18, 2025) by Industries Minister P. Rajeeve as part of the corporate social responsibility initiative of Unifeeder, an international logistics company. On Thursday (May 15, 2025), K. N. Unnikrishnan, MLA, told reporters that the ambulance boat was fully equipped to meet all medical requirements. The hop-on marine dispensary boat was to serve the Kadamakkudy panchayat, where around 2,400 patients each month needed regular medical care and lived without direct road access to nearby hospitals. The marine dispensary was to visit the group of islands according to a fixed schedule. Kadamakkudy panchayat comprises 14 islands, 13 wards, and a population of around 17,000. Dependence on waterways for access to healthcare remains a crucial factor. A mobile medical unit had been in operation earlier, but its licence expired. The need to replace the old service was flagged by the NGO Plan@earth. The marine ambulance and dispensary will operate between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., six days a week, with a doctor, staff nurse, pharmacist, and attendant available on board. The new service will cater to the entire population, including communities of pokkali farmers, fishermen, daily wage earners, NREGS workers, the unemployed, and the elderly. During its first two years of operation, the panchayat will run the boat ambulance.

DP World Unveils Eco-Friendly Vessel at Jebel Ali Port
DP World has officially welcomed the latest addition to its Marine Services fleet, the DP World Jebel Ali, marking its maiden call at its namesake, Jebel Ali Port. The DP World Jebel Ali is a Sapphire 5300 compact gearless container vessel, equipped with advanced maritime technologies aimed at improving cargo handling efficiency, reducing operational costs, and supporting a more sustainable shipping industry. Its compact design allows greater manoeuvrability, making it ideal for accessing smaller ports and inland terminals — a move that opens up new opportunities for expanding regional and global supply chains. To commemorate the vessel's inaugural call, senior executives from DP World and Unifeeder hosted a special reception at Jebel Ali Port, highlighting the port's continued importance in facilitating global trade. The vessel will be deployed on Unifeeder's Asian Gulf ISC Service (AGI), further boosting the network's connectivity. Designed with sustainability in mind, the DP World Jebel Ali is expected to save approximately 1,700 metric tonnes of bunker fuel annually, resulting in a 15–20% reduction in carbon emissions on its designated routes. Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer of Marine Services at DP World, noted, 'The addition of the DP World Jebel Ali to our fleet strengthens our commitment to providing agile, efficient services that deliver value to our customers. This state-of-the-art vessel will help reduce our environmental impact while enhancing our network, which plays a critical role in regional and global supply chains.' News Source: Emirates News Agency
