Centre approves ₹4,224 Crore PMGSY package for rural road projects in J&K, ET Infra
Advt The Centre has sanctioned a ₹4224.23 crore package for 316 road projects in Jammu and Kashmir under PMGSY-IV , which is the biggest ever package for the union territory so far since the national flagship rural road development programme was the PMGSY-IV programme, a rural habitation as small as 250 human beings will get road connectivity through a total length of 1781.33 majority of 316 road projects under PMGSY-IV in J&K will benefit the Jammu division, as this division is still poorly connected as compared to the Kashmir expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that the approved 1781 km road length will provide a major boost to rural road connectivity and usher in a new era of prosperity in the far-flung areas of Jammu and L-G said on X, "Grateful to PM Narendra Modi & Union Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for sanctioning 316 road projects at an estimated cost of ₹4224 cr under Batch-I of PMGSY -IV for providing connectivity to 390 number of eligible habitations. J&K is first among all States/UTs which got sanction under PMGSY-IV. It is also biggest ever package sanctioned for J&K under PMGSY. The approved 1781 Kms road length will provide major boost to rural road connectivity and usher in a new era of prosperity in far-flung areas."Under PMGSY-III, most of the projects sanctioned pertained to the upgradation of roads, while ₹377.91 crore were sanctioned for 66 small and medium bridges, but in PMGSY-IV, there are no bridge projects, and the entire amount will have to be used for road length PMGSY-III, ₹1952.42 crore were used for road connectivity, including upgradation of existing roads, while under PMGSY-IV, the amount sanctioned is for fresh road laying and not for upgradation of existing J&K government will have to bear its share of ₹422.43 crore, while the Union Rural Development Ministry will bear its share of ₹3,801.80 crore out of the total ₹4,224.23 crore sanctioned under PMGSY-IV for Jammu and Kashmir.

MGNREGA: Pemmasani thanks PM for sanctioning Rs 2,159 crore to Andhra Pradesh
GUNTUR: Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on Monday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for sanctioning Rs 2,159 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the financial year 2025-26. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he announced that the funds were released as part of the first tranche of Central assistance to the State for wage payments, material procurement, and administrative expenses under MGNREGA. Of the total, Rs 1,023 crore has been earmarked for wage payments, Rs 960 crore for purchasing materials, and Rs 176 crore for administrative costs. 'This financial support plays a crucial role in empowering rural families, enhancing their incomes, and upholding their dignity,' he said. Pemmasani extended his heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Konidala Pawan Kalyan, and HRD Minister Lokesh for their support.

Centre to build 3.76 lakh homes in Assam in FY26: Rural minister
GUWAHATI: Asserting that the Centre is working to ensure 'poverty-free' villages, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday appealed to the people to take full benefits of all social welfare schemes. Addressing an event in which 55,000 houses built across Assam under the PM Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) were handed over to the beneficiaries, Chouhan underlined the need for empowering women. He said the BJP-led government at the Centre was working to serve people rather than "grabbing power". He said the government is focusing on ensuring 'poverty-free' villages, and the various welfare schemes will enable it. Lauding Assam's progress in PMAY-G, Chouhan said that 3.76 lakh more houses will be built in the state under the scheme in the current financial year. He also launched the 'Lakhimi Mistri' scheme, aimed at equipping women with masonry skills to enhance employment opportunities. Chouhan also virtually inaugurated 21 knowledge centres built across the state under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). These centres have been set up with the objective of strengthening rural agricultural infrastructure and empowering farmers with timely access to resources and information. Speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude to the Centre and reiterated the state government's commitment to empowering farmers, women and rural communities through sustainable growth in agriculture and other livelihood opportunities. State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass were also present at the function.
