By John Lee.
The United Nations (UN) in Iraq has published its Annual Results Report 2024 .
The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Iraq, composed of 23 UN agencies, funds and specialized programmes, is dedicated to supporting Iraq's journey towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Guided by the principle of leaving no one behind, and led by the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, the UN in Iraq delivers evidence-based action and specialized expertise to enhance the lives and livelihoods of all Iraqis, with a focus on the most vulnerable and marginalized communities.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2020-2024 is the operational blueprint of the UN in Iraq, outlining our five shared strategic priorities. These range from achieving social cohesion, protection and inclusion to supporting inclusive economic growth, advancing effective services and institutions, enabling natural resource management and climate change resilience, and achieving durable solutions to displacement.
Integrating the humanitarian, development and peace nexus within its collective work, UN priorities in Iraq are fully aligned with Iraq's Vision 2030, the Kurdistan Regional Government's Vision for the Future and the National Development Plan, and other strategic documents. This synergy ensures that UN efforts are harmonized with national priorities and strategies, seamlessly moving from humanitarian assistance to sustainable development and peacebuilding, firmly rooted in the commitment to leave no one behind, and to reach those furthest behind first.
