Veteran WWE star Carlito is the latest big name set to leave. The 46-year-old former United States Champion, who returned in 2023 and has appeared as comic relief in Judgment Day, revealed he's being let go this month just hours after R-Truth confirmed his own shock exit. Taking to X, Carlito wrote: 'My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed.' In a lighthearted statement, he quipped: 'On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently 'stealing money' from the company. 'I've had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money 😳' Getting more serious, he added: 'All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho! PS…I'll reappear again in another 13yrs Dios me los bendiga!' My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed. This guy was so hilarious and brought some humor to the Judgment Day, it sucks he's being let go,' wrote @santizapooc on X. 'They rly released R-Truth and Carlito within a few hours… two of the most hilarious, loved and dedicated wrestlers in the company (sic)' added @_monarcho. And @Rajbishnoikhara said: 'Sad to see Carlito go. He brought a unique energy and style to WWE that fans will definitely miss. Just like R-Truth, he's a legend in his own right. Wishing him all the best in whatever comes next.' Carlito made his WWE SmackDown debut in 2004 and beat John Cena for the United States Title in his first main roster match, enjoying a six-year spell before getting released in 2010. He returned to the company at Backlash Puerto Rico in 2023 before making a full-time comeback later that year. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video By 2024, he became a member of Judgment Day alongside the likes of Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, and has continued to appear as a member of the group. Before the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the eve of WrestleMania last month, Carlito hadn't wrestled on TV since November 2024. On Saturday, he returned to his father Carlos Colon's WWC promotion, where he won the company's Puerto Rico Championship for the second time. Meanwhile, Carlito recently admitted despite not setting firm plans for retirement, he knows that day is 'coming' in the near future. He exclusively told Metro in Las Vegas before WrestleMania: 'You never know, you know what I mean? Your body sometimes let's you know. Who knows? But I know it's coming.' In the meantime, the former Intercontinental Champion is focused on enjoying his time in the ring while he still can. Reflecting on his current goals, Carlito said: 'Just having fun, man. And with what time I've got left, just giving it whatever I can.' He insisted returned to WWE 'ready to work', while he found it 'interesting' being around a much younger roster with plenty of stars from his era no longer around. 'It's a whole new thing for me. A lot of the people aren't around anymore from my day, it's all these young kids now,' he added. More Trending Carlito confirmed his upcoming WWE departure hours after R-Truth, 53, announced his own imminent exit. He wrote on X: 'Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. Talking about the same in an interview, Fatu has shed light on his journey to the US Championship win in WWE and much interacting in the 'Club 50 Podcast', the new 'Enforcer' of the Bloodline shared anecdotes about his journey to his first singles title in the biggest wrestling promotion of the world. At one point of time, no one even wanted his autograph, and he was only signing his bail papers, said Fatu. "I could have never expected this ... I remember looking out a jail cell window man, to looking out of an airplane man, you know just on the way. But it was very special, definitely having my son over here Johnny Fatu, and definitely for my parents to pull up." Fatu said. "I remember nobody wanted my autograph bro. It's more of a mindset. My brother Solo told me 'It's okay man, just to step away from everything real quick, you feel me? Get your heads in the right space'. I did that and it still don't work.'After his first monumental singles win at WrestleMania 41, Fatu is all set to defend his United States Championship against the likes of Damian priest, Drew McIntyre and former champion LA Knight in a fatal four-way match at Backlash. WWE SmackDown fans stunned as 'ultra dangerous' star returns after 4 years
WWE SmackDown wasn't to be outdone by Raw after WrestleMania. Days after Rusev made his shock comeback to the red brand on Netflix, it was the Friday night show in the spotlight with Aleister Black making the jump from AEW for his own surprise return. The former NXT Champion was hailed by commentator Joe Tessitore as 'ultra dangerous' and lived up to the billing as he laid out The Miz. It all went down after the A-Lister went to the ring to complain about missing out on WrestleMania 41, despite Rey Mysterio and Kevin Owens both needing replacements over the weekend. During Miz's rant, the lights dropped and Black's iconic old theme blared out as he emerged from the stage as if from a coffin, flanked by candles. He made his way to the ring and sent the former world champ crashing to the mat with a Black Mass, making an instant impression on his first night back. Fans were overjoyed to see him in the fold four years after he was last seen laying out Big E before mysteriously disappearing amid WWE cuts, only to resurface in AEW months later. 'ALEISTER BLACK IS BACK!!! 🔥 #Smackdown,' wrote @BellyToBellyPT, while fellow X user @BuckleyTrafford added: 'Aleister Black is back!! WITH HIS OG MUSIC ‼️🔥😩 #Smackdown' 'ALEISTER BLACK IS BACK WITH HIS OLD THEME!!,' said @ScottTHFC23, as @ItzChefSteph raved: 'Aleister Black is here. I'm soo excited. The pop for Aleister Black is beautiful.' 'Aleister Black is back looking as good and menacing as he ever has,' pointed out @samguine_, and @tomthebeaver tweeted: 'Aleister Black has returned to WWE, and looks absolutely phenomenal!' Elsewhere on the first SmackDown since WrestleMania, the show opened with John Cena, who got cut off by Randy Orton before he could say a word. The Legend Killer suggested the wrestler turned Hollywood star should have kids of his own to recaptured his previous attitude, and the segment led to a blockbuster match being made. Next month at Backlash in St Louis, hometown hero Orton will challenge longtime rival Cena for the WWE Championship in their final ever bout together. Meanwhile, Aleister Black's real life wife Zelina Vega had a fantastic night as she scored a huge upset over Chelsea Green to capture the United States Title – her first taste at singles gold. NXT standouts Fraxiom stunned in their SmackDown debut as a team, with Nathan Frazer and Axiom toppling Los Garzas in a fast paced clash.
