A single-player Dungeons & Dragons game is in development

Stig Asmussen, the game industry veteran who directed God of War III and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Fallen Order , is developing a single-player action-adventure game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons in partnership with publisher Wizards of the Coast . This will be the first project for Asmussen's studio Giant Skull since its founding in late 2023. In a press release sent to Engadget, the studio shared it is "dedicated to building gameplay-driven, story-immersed action-adventure games." The new project will be built on the Unreal 5 engine and is currently in development for PC, with console details coming at a later date. No specific release dates, renderings or game content has been shared as of yet, making it unlikely this game will be out before 2026. John Hight, president of Wizards of the Coast (the owners of the iconic tabletop RPG), said "Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with and I'm so happy to be reuniting with him on this new project.' Stig Asmussen shared that the studio's goal is to "craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace." This new project comes as Wizards of the Coast moves on from its deal with developer Larian Studios, the team behind the widely-acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3 . The Hasbro -owned publisher has a slew of games in the pipeline in partnership with various game studios in the United States and Canada. These include the sci-fi RPG Exodus , which is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, and Atomic Arcade's Snake Eyes , which is based on the G.I. Joe.

The Best Feature Of ‘Oblivion' Has Been Faithfully Recreated In The Remaster

Oblivion Nearly 200,000 people on Steam alone, concurrently, dove into the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster after it was shadow dropped on Tuesday by Bethesda and Virtuous. Well, 'stealth dropped' after being leaked a dozen times, but the end result was a wildly impressive remaster that may be one of the best we've ever seen. Some people wondered if everything was going to carry over from Oblivion, and they have in fact left some of the 'jank' in place, and players are getting goofy bugs and having awkward NPC conversations. But there's one aspect that has remained faithful to the original in a big way: the ability to create horrible monstrosities in the character creator, now with the added benefit of Unreal 5 for even more stomach-churning detail. I've been going through social media to find the best of the best, or rather the worst of the worst, and I've collected a gallery of the most feature-worthy here. Check them out: FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder There have got to be thousands of these, but I'll stop here for now. If you have one of your own that you want featured here, you can send it to me on Twitter, @paultassi, and if it's ugly enough, I may throw it in. I made a normal looking character myself but now I'm starting to regret that. Plus, a helmet erases all this anyway, right? Glad to see that Oblivion is still Oblivion after all these years, and everything, including the comedy, has been kept intact for this. What We Should See And What We Won't In Bungie's ‘Marathon' Reveal

Marathon Bungie about to reveal Marathon in full, no more years-old trailers, concept art snippets or elaborate ARGs. It's a real premiere, live tomorrow in a 1 PM ET stream that Bungie has really gone all out for, building sets and everything. I wanted to talk about what we know we're going to see, what I hope we'll see and what we won't see from the show tomorrow. It's a gameplay reveal. So gameplay, obviously. I believe this will be the first in-engine footage from the game, as that was not the case with the first trailer or even the brief teaser of the dead runner that we saw as an announcement of this event. It's on an upgraded Tiger engine, so what Bungie always uses and not Unreal 5 or anything, and we'll see how that looks now, eight years after Destiny 2 launched with it. The art direction of the game is obviously amazing, but how does it translate to the actual game engine? I would expect a full-on explanation and look at the extraction concept, any Bungie twists on it, at least some full looks at runners and their kits, along with how they can be modified to be more unique gameplay-wise than traditional hero shooter characters. There will also be an embargo lifting after this event that will allow dozens and dozens of creators, journalists and industry figures to give their impressions after playing the game in a recent event Bungie hosted. They were only given access to a portion of the game, but we get to see what they make of it (though this will take place after the show). Marathon It's mostly in a similar category: Monetization. By that I mean: Game Price: It's almost certain that Marathon will not be free-to-play. Less certain is the exact price. Guesses are around $30-40 as pulling a trigger on a full $70 live game would be…unwise. I do hope they finally clarify this, but I have my doubts they will without the game even having a release date yet. Skins/Battle Pass Preview: What does cosmetic customization look like in this game? Comparable to Destiny? Halo? And how much is that going to cost for a skin, or different pieces, or other categories of cosmetics we don't know about yet? What's in a battle pass? How many good cosmetics there? How much is that? Do they expire? Seasons: Unlike Destiny 2 with its episodes and seasons, it is almost impossible seasons themselves will cost money, rather the battle pass will like in similar genre games here. However, I'd like to know season length (is it the traditional three months?) and the planned cadence of adding new characters. One a season? Two a year? One every month like Marvel Rivals? (no way). Some of that info would be great. Marathon There was a rumor floating around that this showcase would end with the surprise stealth launch of an open beta so everyone could hop in and play. Don't get your hopes up for that, it's not happening. What I've been told is that there will be a closed alpha sign-up discussion at the end of the show for an alpha with the largest number of spots yet, but still sort of limited in grand scheme (five figures?). I believe that alpha should launch some time in the next month unless plans have changed. I would be surprised if they announced open alpha or beta dates, or an actual release date for the full game. There's going to be a whole lot to process here and I'll do a full breakdown after the fact. See you tomorrow.
