NFL reporter discusses Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' contract status
NFL reporter discusses Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' contract status NFL Network's James Palmer appeared as a guest on the 'Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams' to share his thoughts on the Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, possibly being up for a potential contract restructuring. "I think Patrick (Mahomes), like I mentioned the comparison to (Tom) Brady, the amount of money they make off the field they put into account and what they do in terms of hamstringing a team on the field in terms of salary cap," said Palmer, "I would say, we know this contract is so unique compared to every other deal in the NFL, with the length of it, with the terms. The relationship between Patrick and the front office and the constant communication of, Are you happy? Are you good? Where you're at is very good, and he will always be compensated accordingly. But I do know that he thinks of things a little bit differently. I think he'll be completely fine with what's to come." The San Francisco 49ers were the most recent team to pay a luxury price to keep their franchise quarterback. Brock Purdy signed a five-year, $265 million deal that slightly exceeded Detroit Lions' Jared Goff's recent extension, creating a new negotiation target price. Since entering the NFL in 2017, the two-time league MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion has performed at a future Hall of Fame level. The contract extension he signed a few years ago was record-breaking, but multiple other quarterbacks have since surpassed it in the market.

Kansas City Chiefs earn praise from NFL executive following 2025 schedule release
Kansas City Chiefs earn praise from NFL executive following 2025 schedule release NFL Vice President of Broadcast Operations Mike North recently appeared as a guest on the 'Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams' to discuss the Chiefs' growing popularity. "If anybody's paid attention, that's sort of what the Kansas City Chiefs schedule is these days. What have they won, three of the last six Super Bowls?" said North, "That puts you into a non-routine scheduling formula, Sundays at noon are rare. There are actually four or five of them this year, which is probably more than they're probably used to." The Chiefs were recently revealed as the other team in the Week 1 international game in Brazil, continuing to expand their exposure representing the league. The 'America's Team' honor has often been connected to the Dallas Cowboys, but that might change according to North. "The Chiefs have almost kind of surpassed the Cowboys as the bell cow, this is what happens when your pop culture is part of the fabric of the country right now," said North, "This is par for the course for the Chiefs." Kansas City will play seven prime-time games in 2025, the most of any team in the NFL. The Chiefs will play eight standalone games in total, including Thanksgiving against the Cowboys.

Kansas City Chiefs OL Trey Smith praises Patrick Mahomes for taking accountability
Kansas City Chiefs OL Trey Smith praises Patrick Mahomes for taking accountability Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Trey Smith recently appeared as a guest on the 'Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams' to share his thoughts on teammate Patrick Mahomes shouldering the blame for the disappointing loss in Super Bowl LIX. "It just shows how great of a leader Patrick (Mahomes) is at all moments," said Smith. "Him taking the blame in situations, him taking accountability and credit, I know without a doubt there's no one I trust more than Patrick Mahomes to lead a football team and get guys in the right direction. He knows that we're backing him 100 percent every step up of the way." Mahomes accepted all the blame for his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles as he turned the ball over and made uncharacteristic throws throughout the night. "Whatever he needs, he knows he has his teammates. I would just say he's the ultimate leader. A lot of people duck a lot of the accountability. A lot of people don't take up for the bad times. They only take up for the good and only take credit for the great times," said Smith. "For him to step up in that situation, I'm not shocked at all. It's a testament to his character. I know I'm riding with 15 all the way." Smith was franchise-tagged by the Chiefs before the start of free agency and will be starting alongside Mahomes again in 2025.
