DUI driver slams into car leaving L.A. County Fair, injures 7 passengers
An intoxicated driver slammed into a car full of people on their way home from the Los Angeles County Fair on Saturday night, injuring all seven passengers in the hit vehicle. It happened around 11 p.m. that night in San Bernardino County, according to a Sunday night X post by the Upland Police Department. Behind the wheel of a BMW, the DUI driver was driving northbound on Benson Avenue and ran a red light, crashing into and sending the red Chevy Traverse to topple over, landing upside down in the intersection on 16th Street. 'The driver of the BMW was found to be intoxicated, had a suspended license for DUI, was on probation for DUI, and had an outstanding warrant for DUI,' Upland PD said in its X post. 'Needless to say, the driver was booked for felony DUI causing injury.' Officials said that although all seven passengers were injured, some with bone fractures, none of the injuries were life-threatening. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Video shows police chase, arrest suspects after Upland restaurant break-in
Police arrested a man and a 16-year-old suspected of burglarizing a restaurant in San Bernardino County, then leading officers on a destructive pursuit Thursday. Two more suspects remain at large as of Friday night. The Upland Police Department posted details along with a video edit to X, showing events from the break-in, the pursuit and the arrests. Police said a call came in around 3:30 a.m. for a burglary alarm set off at a restaurant near 7th Street and Mountain Avenue. When officers arrived, they saw suspects running into a stolen Dodge Challenger. 'To no one's surprise, the vehicle immediately fled,' the department said in its X post. Pursuing officers performed a PIT maneuver in the parking lot, but the Challenger continued on. Police said the suspect driver then intentionally rammed into one of Upland PD's units and kept fleeing. 'Since these guys are pros at making poor life choices, they made yet another one by driving up Linda Way, which is a dead end,' explained the department. 'The driver of the Challenger then tried to squeeze between two parked cars to get onto the sidewalk and got stuck.' All of the occupants then bailed out of the car and attempted to keep running on foot, but officers soon captured the driver – a man from South Gate – who was already on probation for burglary. 'Stop breaking into businesses, how about that,' an officer was heard saying while putting the shirtless suspect into the police car. 'Get a job.' The department said officers quickly detained the second suspect – only identified as a 16-year-old from Los Angeles – in the nearby carports. Police booked the two suspects for assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, commercial burglary, felony evading, grand theft auto, resisting and several other charges. 'Two remaining suspects evaded capture that night, but may see us soon,' said Upland PD. Investigators found that the Challenger had a stolen paper plate on it and a different stolen plate inside the car. Officials later determined that the second stolen plate was associated with other burglaries. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Police chase 5 suspects running across 210 Freeway lanes after Tesla break-in
Police arrested six people suspected of breaking into a Tesla building, with five of them leading officers on a dangerous chase across 210 Freeway lanes in San Bernardino County. In a post to X on Thursday, the Upland Police Department said it received a call from a monitoring company watching the burglary in progress at Tesla around 4:53 a.m. on Wednesday. The caller said five people had just broken into the building. Upland PD said officers converged on the area and immediately set up a perimeter, summoned their K9 Rudy, launched a drone and requested additional officers for backup from multiple agencies. 'One of our officers spotted a Camry with no plates creeping up Campus Ave. above Tesla and stopped it,' wrote Upland PD. 'Upon contact, a loaded magazine was seen in the car and the solo driver couldn't explain why he was in the area.' Police said they detained the suspect while other officers continued working on the five outstanding suspects. 'The 5 suspects then exited the Tesla building, jumped a south fence toward the 210, and hunkered down in the embankment under some bushes,' stated Upland PD's post. 'Being that our drone has thermal imaging, these guys were not hard to spot.' The police department detailed that as officers arrived on the scene, all five suspects got up and started running southbound across the westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway. Officers arrived on the westbound freeway to stop traffic and set up a perimeter. Officials said officers managed to quickly detain three suspects after a short foot pursuit, but that two suspects continued southbound across eastbound lanes of traffic. 'Our drone operator was able to keep watch on the final 2 suspects and guided officers into the residential community west of Kohls where one of them started jumping fences,' said Upland PD. Police said motor officers 'swooped in' and found the fence-hopping suspect as he came over what turned out to be his final fence. 'The final suspect was spotted at 19th Street and Campus Avenue and decided he wasn't done running,' continued Upland PD. 'He led 2 of our officers on a foot pursuit that ended near the El Pollo Loco.' With the final suspect captured, police announced they booked all the suspects – only identified as six adults from Los Angeles County – on felony commercial burglary, and 'a slew of other charges.' Pair arrested for stealing catalytic converters in Southern California
Police arrested a man and woman accused of stealing catalytic converters in San Bernardino County early morning Thursday, officials said. The Upland Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers responded at around 4 a.m. to a catalytic converter theft in the 300 block of South Sinclair Avenue. However, before officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene. 'It didn't take long for us to do what we do and get this vehicle identified,' wrote the police department. After entering the suspect's car as a wanted vehicle and making a broadcast to regional agencies, Upland PD's partners, the Pomona Police Department, 'made quick work of it' and found and pulled over the car in their city. 'Our officers responded, located stolen catalytic converters, burglary tools, drugs, and paraphernalia,' stated Upland police. Officers arrested the two suspects, only identified as a male driver and female passenger from Los Angeles County, for felony theft and drug possession, conspiracy and more. In addition, the department had their vehicle towed. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
