Sint Truiden's Japanese star Ryotaro Ito on fire to start the Pro League season
Sint Truiden continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Dender on Friday evening. Man of the match for the side was their 27-year-old Japanese star Ryotaro Ito. The midfielder is great on the eye, and so far this season, has been on fire in front of goal. The former Urawa Red Diamonds midfielder grabbed his third goal in three games to surpass last seasons total of just two goals in 36 games. Ito is in his third season at the club, having joined in 2023 from Albirex Niigata. In his first year with the club he scores seven goals and grabbed four assists in 37 games. He looks set to repeat this feat, and it is clearly down to having another attack minded coach in the dugout. Last season, Ito struggled under three different head coaches, with the player being dropped to the bench at times as the side looked to contain the opposition. Wouter Vrancken clearly see's that the side plays better with Ito in the midfield, creating chances and moving the ball. Ito is a joy to watch. He moves around the pitch looking to get involved in everything the side looks to create, which was a real hallmark of the sides success under Thorsen Fink two seasons ago. If Vrancken can continue to get the best out of Ito, the side could repeat that success and steer themselves clear of any relegation fears they suffered last season. He has the players around him as well who benefit from his style of play. It seems unlikely, but if Ito can have a real standout campaign he may be an outside shout for a spot in Japan's side for the World Cup next year. GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson

Report – Argentina Star's Future At Inter Milan Up In The Air This Summer
Report – Argentina Star's Future At Inter Milan Up In The Air This Summer The future of attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni at Inter Milan is up in the air this summer. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Genoa are keen on loaning in the 20-year-old. Advertisement At the moment, Valentin Carboni is a part of Inter's senior squad. The Argentine's loan spell with Marseille last campaign ended prematurely. This following an ACL tear that he suffered during the autumn. Carboni spent much of last season recovering from that injury. And having fully healed from that devastating knee injury, Carboni was ready to travel to the United States for the Club World Cup this summer. Future Of Valentin Carboni Up In The Air At Inter Milan MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA – JUNE 29: Valentin Carboni of Argentina looks on during the CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 Group A match between Argentina and Peru at Hard Rock Stadium on June 29, 2024 in Miami Gardens, Florida. (Photo by) Carboni got his share of playing time for Inter Milan at the Club World Cup. Most notably, the 20-year-old scored Inter's stoppage time winner against Urawa Red Diamonds. Advertisement That showed that new Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu is hardly unwilling to put his trust in Carboni. Therefore, there would be a real chance of the Argentine sticking around as part of the first team plans for the upcoming season. However, reports the Gazzetta, it is also quite possible that Carboni – who had also spent the 2023-24 season on loan with Monza – could have another loan move in store.

Inter Milan captain Martinez blasts team after Club World Cup exit
CHARLOTTE, July 1 — Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez did not hold back after Monday's 2-0 loss to Fluminense, criticising a lacklustre display as they exited the Club World Cup in the last 16. Inter were stunned by a resilient Fluminense side, with the Italians failing to pose a real threat until the closing stages, leaving striker Martinez frustrated as he called on his teammates to show greater commitment. 'I want to fight for the major titles. Anyone who wants to stay at Inter, fine, let's fight. But anyone who doesn't want to stay can leave,' the Argentine told reporters. 'We need players who want to be here. We're wearing an important shirt. We need a top-level mentality, or please leave.' Inter arrived at the revamped Club World Cup as title contenders but, aside from a 2-0 win over River Plate in the group stage, the Serie A side had an inconsistent campaign — beating Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds with a last-minute winner and being held to a 1-1 draw by Mexican side Monterrey. Their last-16 exit adds to a frustrating season in which they failed to win domestic silverware and were crushed 5-0 by Paris St Germain in last month's Champions League final. 'It was a long and tiring season, we finished empty-handed. It is a general message,' Martinez added. 'In order to stay up there and fight for titles, we must be eager ... I apologise to the fans who came here to follow us closely. I am the captain and I want to keep things at the top.' Inter will kick off their Serie A campaign at home to Torino in August. — Reuters

Internazionale v Fluminense: Club World Cup quarter-final
Update: Date: 2025-06-30T18:00:41.000Z Title: Preamble Content: Neither of these teams have wowed 'em yet. In the groups, Inter drew with Monterrey then left it late against both Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate, while Fluminense's admittedly entertaining come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Ulsan HD was sandwiched by two goalless draws against Borussia Dortmund and Mamelodi Sundowns. But both know their way around knock-out football: Big Flu won the Copa Libertadores in 2023 while Inter reached the final of Big Cup in 2023 and 2025. So this could still be fun … providing the North Carolina weather doesn't do a number on us again. Kick-off is at 8pm UK time, 3pm local, lightning permitting. It's on! Hopefully!
