Man dies after being hit by car in downtown Montreal

A man in his 30s is dead after being hit by a car in downtown Montreal, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. (Cosmo Santamaria/CTV News) A man in his 30s is dead after being hit by a car in downtown Montreal on Tuesday night. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 9:50 p.m. about the incident on de Boisbriand Street and de l'Hôtel-de-Ville Avenue. 'The first-responders intervened with a man who was unconscious and severely injured,' said Jeanne Drouin, a spokesperson with Montreal police. 'He was transported to a hospital by Urgences-Santé paramedics in critical condition.' She notes that he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The 26-year-old driver was not injured. 'According to initial information, the driver was on Boisbriand and may have struck the individual, who was on the ground of the parking entrance.' An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.

Woman injured after third-floor balcony collapses in east-end Montreal

A woman in her 50s was seriously injured in a balcony collapse in Montreal's east end. (The Canadian Press/Graham Hughes) A woman in her 50s was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after the third-floor balcony she was standing on collapsed Wednesday afternoon. Urgences-Santé says the incident happened at an apartment building near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Street East and de Ville-Marie Street, in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Paramedics say the woman suffered upper-body injuries, but her life is not believed to be in danger.

(CTV News) A young man was found dead in a pool in Montreal's Pointe-aux-Trembles neighbourhood on Monday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) said that a 911 call at around 11:10 a.m. reported an unconscious person in a pool on 43rd Avenue near Alberic-Gelinas Street. Officers responded to find the 22-year-old man unconscious. 'The paramedics of Urgences-Santé, sadly, verified the death of the man,' said SPVM spokesperson Julien Levesque. A perimeter has been set up, and the investigation is continuing.
