After months of speculations that actor Ranveer Singh is set to produce a new Shaktimaan project and collaborate with original creator Mukesh Khanna, his team has come forward to quash any such claims. The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor's team has issued a statement clarifying that there is no truth to actor acquiring rights of the superhero show. (Also read: 'Go well, King!': Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Suniel Shetty pay tributes as Virat Kohli retires from Test cricket) Squashing the reports, Ranveer's team said in a statement, "The news about Ranveer Singh acquiring rights of developing a new superhero (Shaktimaan) project as the producer holds no truth. He is currently busy shooting for Aditya Dhar's next and then, Don 3 is also on the cards for him.' In an earlier interview, Mukesh stated that Ranveer had tried to convince him to let him play the superhero in a new adaptation. Mukesh told Bollywood Thikana, "That poor guy (Ranveer Singh) was sitting in front of me for three hours. But it doesn't reflect on his face, what it needs to play Shaktimaan. He looks fickle as if he will con somebody. But he is a terrific actor. When I praised him I mentioned that nobody else in the film industry has the energy like him. But I haven't approved him for the role. He must have felt bad." Ranveer is currently busy shooting for his next Dhurandhar, an action-packed espionage thriller directed by Aditya Dhar. The director is best known for the acclaimed Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). Dhurandhar boasts of an interesting star cast which includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. Reportedly, the film is drawing inspiration from real-life covert operations led by India's current National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval.

Bollywood's Title Rush: Before 'Operation Sindoor', There Was 'Taj Terror' And 'Corona Pyaar Hai'

Last Updated: As soon as Operation Sindoor was launched, over 30 applications poured in to claim the title for movies and more than 15 titles have already been officially registered When it comes the film industry, speed often trumps storytelling, especially when it is about movie titles. Every time a major national or global event unfolds, from military operations to space missions, a parallel scramble erupts in the cinema's production circles – not to shoot a movie, but to stake claim to its title. The latest example? Operation Sindoor, India's military action against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, barely made headlines before filmmakers flooded title registration bodies with requests. Within mere hours of the operation's news breaking, over 30 applications poured in to claim variations of 'Operation Sindoor'. By the end of the week, more than 15 titles had already been officially registered. This frenzy is not new. The Hindi film industry has a long history of responding to headlines with hastily filed title registrations. But more often than not, those titles never make it to the big screen. In 2019, after the Indian Air Force's Balakot strike in response to the Pulwama terror attack, there was a surge in cinematic patriotism. Riding on the success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, more than 35 titles referencing the Pulwama attack and Balakot operation were filed. But despite the enthusiasm, only four were copyrighted, and none turned into actual films. Then came the Covid-19 pandemic when Bollywood's response was not just in lockdown-themed scripts, but also a deluge of quirky title registrations. Entries such as Deadly Corona, Ishq Vishk Corona, Corona Pyaar Hai, Go Corona Go, Lockdown Mein Lovestory, and Lockdown-e-Locha were logged. Yet, audiences never saw these films – if they ever left the paper at all. In 2023, the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 inspired another title spree. Filmmakers rushed to reserve names like Mission Chandrayaan, Hindustan Ki Shaan Chandrayaan, Chandrayaan Ki Khoj, and Chandrayaan Ki Yatra. As with many others, these titles were quietly shelved, their cinematic futures uncertain. Similarly, the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019 saw a wave of titles such as Article 370, Kashmir Hamara Hai, and Tiranga in Kashmir filed by production houses looking to ride the wave of national sentiment. Even the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008 spurred a brief title boom. According to the BBC, film title entries included Mumbai Operation 26/11, Taj Terror, Operation Five Star Mumbai, and 26/11 Mumbai Under Attack. While some documentaries and fictional accounts did emerge, many titles never came to fruition. So why the rush to claim these titles, even if it may never become a film? Film industry insiders say it's all about anticipation, and protection. A powerful, timely title can be a valuable asset if a film is ever made. Some producers register titles just to block competitors or to hold onto an idea they may explore years later. Others hope to sell the title rights should a studio come calling. How Bollywood's Title Game Works To legally secure a title in India, filmmakers must apply through one of several industry bodies, including the Film and Television Producers Council (FTPC), Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), or the Western India Film Producers Association (WIFPA). The process is relatively straightforward: the first to apply usually gets the rights. If the title goes unused for a certain period, it may become available again. Still, in an industry where ideas are currency and timing is everything, that first-mover advantage is often seen as critical. First Published:
