2-day free urology camp at IMS-BHU from today

Varanasi: A free urology consultation and surgery charitable camp, to be organised by Urological Society of India (USI), under its public welfare initiative USI CARES (Community Action, Relief, Education & Service), will begin at Urology department of IMS- BHU on Aug 1. During the camp, patients will receive free consultations from some of the country's leading urologists, along with diagnostic investigations and surgical interventions, including both minor and major procedures as deemed necessary. These services will be provided entirely free of cost. According to a BHU spokesperson, a team of more than 15 to 20 urologists and healthcare professionals from across India volunteered to participate in this noble cause. Among the distinguished participants are Prof TP Rajeev from Guwahati, who currently serves as the president of the Urological Society of India and Dr SP Yadav from Gurugram, an executive council member of the society. In addition to clinical care, the camp will also focus on public health education. Interactive awareness sessions will be conducted to inform participants about various urological conditions, including kidney stones, prostate enlargement, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, and cancers of the urinary and genital systems. These sessions aim to empower individuals with knowledge about prevention, early detection, and the importance of lifestyle modifications in managing their health. TNN

Midterm Urology Workshop ‘STONE 360': 19 patients operated on for kidney stone removal at AIIMS-Bathinda free of cost

The North Zone Chapter of the Urological Society of India (NZUSI) held its two-day midterm workshop, 'STONE 360', at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda on April 19-20, with the focus on clinical training, academic exchange and free surgical treatment. Nineteen patients received free surgeries for kidney stone removal using minimally invasive procedures during the workshop, which also featured academic paper presentations and a quiz competition for students. Inaugurating the workshop, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said, 'AIIMS-Bathinda is making efforts to provide healthcare to poor patients.' He advised the audience to 'maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent kidney problems, including kidney stones.' Addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, Advisor to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Dr Sandeep Singh Kaura said, 'Continuous skill development in healthcare is essential. Initiatives like STONE 360 support the vision of a self-reliant India by bridging clinical practice with community health.' Dr Kawaljit Singh Kaura, Head of the Department of Urology and Kidney Transplantation, AIIMS-Bathinda, led the conference. The Urological Society of India recognised him and his team for their efforts. Dignitaries present included Director, AIIMS-Bathinda Prof Meenu Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University Prof Rajiv Sood, NZUSI president Dr AK Sanwal, secretary Dr Rishi Nayyar and Dean Academics Dr Akhilesh Pathak.
