Pralay' missile system 'Pralay' missile system: In a significant development for India's defence industry, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the maximum and minimum range capability of the 'Pralay' missile system, a state-of-the-art canisterized tactical surface-to-surface short range ballistic missile. The User Evaluation Trials of Pralay were carried out from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on Monday and Tuesday. Here are all the details you need to know about the state-of-the-art Pralay short range ballistic missile. How India conducted trial of 'Pralay' missile system During the tests of the indigenous solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile employing state-of-the-art guidance and navigation, the missiles precisely followed the intended trajectory and reached the target point with pinpoint accuracy, meeting all the test objectives, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. The DRDO, in a post on X, said, 'Two consecutive flight trials of 'Pralay' missile were successfully carried out on 28th and 29th July 2025 as a part of User Evaluation Trials to validate the maximum and minimum range capability of the missile system.' Why 'Pralay' missile system is dangerous? As per media reports, the 'Pralay' missile system equipped with modern technologies will give a further technological boost to the Armed Forces against threats, he said. As a result of the 5 ton missile development, Pakistani bases like Mushaf, Nur Khan, Rafiqui and Masroor as well as important Chinese targets in occupied Tibet and Xinjiang will be within India's range. Who developed 'Pralay' missile system? As per a report by IANS news agency, the system has been developed by Research Centre Imarat in collaboration with other DRDO labs — Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Armament Research and Development Establishment, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Research and Development Establishment (Engineers) and ITR, etc.; industry partners — Bharat Dynamics Limited; Bharat Electronics Limited and many other industries and MSMEs. DRDO Successfully Tests Maximum And Minimum Range Of 'Pralay' Missile In Odisha

Last Updated: The tests, known as User Evaluation Trials, were carried out on Monday and Tuesday from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha News18 The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday successfully tested both the minimum and maximum range capabilities of the 'Pralay' missile system over two days in Odisha. The tests, known as User Evaluation Trials, were carried out on Monday and Tuesday from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha, an official said. 'Pralay' is an indigenous missile that uses solid propellant and features advanced guidance and navigation technology. According to the Ministry of Defence, the missile followed its intended flight path accurately and hit its target with precision, meeting all objectives of the trials. All parts of the missile system worked as expected. The performance was confirmed through data collected by various tracking sensors set up by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), including equipment placed on a ship near the impact point. The 'Pralay' missile can carry different types of warheads and is designed to target a range of threats. It was developed by DRDO's Research Centre Imarat in partnership with other DRDO labs such as the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Advanced Systems Laboratory, and several others. Industry partners like Bharat Dynamics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, and many MSMEs also contributed to the project. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, the Armed Forces, and the industry teams for the successful tests. He said the advanced missile system would further strengthen the country's defence capabilities. 'The @DRDO_India has conducted two consecutive successful flight tests of Pralay Missile on 28th and 29th July 2025 from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha," Singh also shared in a post on X. Dr Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence R&D, congratulated all the teams involved. He said the successful completion of this phase of testing brings the missile system closer to being introduced into active service.
