UP Board removes SR, TC upload requirement for registration of students
Prayagraj: In a welcome move for schools and educators, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) withdrew the mandatory requirement of uploading photos of the Scholar Register (SR) and Transfer Certificate (TC) during the advance registration process for Class 9 and Class 11 students. This decision follows persistent demands by school managements and teacher associations who raised concerns about the security of confidential documents. Earlier this year, the UP Board introduced new guidelines for advance registration of students who will appear in the 2027 high school and intermediate board examinations. For the first time, schools were asked to upload a permanent education number (PEN) along with images of either the SR or TC. While the Board already dropped the requirement of PEN on July 15, the SR/TC photo upload clause remained active until now. Teachers and school administrators argued that the process of uploading sensitive documents was risky, especially since most school principals use private cybercafes for online registration. They pointed out that SR and TC documents are official and confidential, and taking them outside the school premises could pose serious security threats. Acknowledging these concerns, the UP Board has now removed the photo upload option from its registration portal. Currently, advance registration for the 2025-26 academic session and exam form submission for Classes 10 and 12 is ongoing in more than 28,000 UP Board-affiliated schools. The deadline for submission is August 5. However, due to ongoing flood conditions in Prayagraj and several other districts, an extension of the deadline is considered likely. In previous years, similar weather disruptions led the Board to extend key dates.

UP Board announces automatic recognition for schools offering vocational edu
Prayagraj: In a major step towards promoting vocational education and industrial skill development, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) announced that recognised secondary and intermediate institutions will no longer need separate recognition to offer vocational job roles. Schools will be deemed automatically recognised, provided they follow the prescribed guidelines set by the education council. This new policy, which will come into effect from the academic year 2028, aims to simplify administrative procedures and encourage more schools to adopt vocational streams. It is expected to significantly enhance students' industry-relevant skills and employability. For instance, if a school wishes to offer training in fields like information technology, banking, automobile or healthcare, it will be considered automatically eligible to do so without needing additional approvals. According to the Director of Education, Mahendra Dev, schools must, however, establish mandatory partnerships with local workshops, industries, or companies to ensure practical exposure. Vocational education will be integrated into the high school and intermediate board exams as a compulsory subject. In high school, students will choose one vocational subject as a seventh subject, alongside options like moral education, yoga, physical education, or socially useful work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo At the intermediate level, vocational education will be introduced as a sixth subject. To pass, students must score at least 33% marks, and evaluation will include both written and practical examinations. The scores will be clearly mentioned in the student's mark sheet.A key feature of the reform is the compulsory 10-day internship in the chosen vocational field, which students must complete through local industrial or commercial establishments. Over 20 sectors are being offered for selection, including automobile, banking, beauty and wellness, capital goods, electronics, IT, media and entertainment, telecom, tourism, plumbing, healthcare, private security, and sports, among others. Experts believe that this move towards industry-integrated education will not only empower students with job-ready skills but also bridge the gap between academic learning and practical experience. UP Board to take strict action against teachers for skipping evaluation work
Prayagraj: After successfully announcing the results of the High School and Intermediate Examinations for 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) is now tightening its noose around teachers who skipped evaluation duties. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Board has initiated an inquiry to identify teachers who served as room invigilators during exams but failed to turn up for the evaluation of answer sheets between March 19 and April 2. Board secretary Bhagwati Singh has directed all district inspectors of schools (DIOS) to furnish detailed records of such teachers. Approximately 1,48,667 teachers were appointed as evaluators for the evaluation of about 2.84 crore answer sheets across 261 centres. However, around 30,000 to 35,000 teachers who performed invigilation duties did not participate in the evaluation process, some not even for a single day, while many just took the work as a formality. The board has not ruled out that some of these individuals may be impersonators. If found guilty, strict action will be taken against such individuals and against the school that appointed them. It is worth mentioning that during the exam period, several fake invigilators were apprehended by board's mobile teams, and criminal cases were registered under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which mandates life imprisonment and fines up to Rs 1 crore. Now, a similar probe is being launched into those who skipped evaluation work. A major concern is that these teachers accepted remuneration but failed to deliver on their responsibilities, thereby delaying the evaluation timeline and undermining the efforts of sincere examiners. The board fears that such behaviour sends a damaging message to those who uphold their duties with integrity. In a strongly worded statement, Singh said: "Teachers have to understand that things are not to be taken for granted anymore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Evaluation is a crucial part of their responsibility. Many often try to abstain from it, citing vague assumptions, but this cannot be tolerated now. Some may have genuine reasons, but we should know the details." "There are cases where teachers did not evaluate even a single copy the whole day. This not only disrupts the system but demoralises those who work with sincerity. The answer sheets could have been evaluated in a week's time, so why did it take longer? Clearly, some teachers neglected their duties, and we are trying to find them and take action against them," said Singh. Moreover, if schools are found to have deputed ineligible people for duty, both the school and its principal will face consequences, he added.
