The new academic calendar, released by the secondary education department, also introduces the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative, aimed at familiarising students with India's historical and geographical diversity. According to a govt spokesperson, students will be groomed as ambassadors of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board, while issuing the academic calendar, said that water literacy programmes and student-led activities focused on Ganga cleanliness and conservation have been included in the schedule. Principal of KP Inter College, Yogendra Singh, said that the calendar outlines year-round initiatives that encourage active student participation in Ganga cleaning drives and promote water literacy across campuses. The academic calendar also emphasises the importance of introducing students to India's rich historical and geographical heritage through the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative. Besides, students will also participate in a variety of sports, cultural, and literary activities. Schools have been instructed to design their activity plans accordingly, with special focus on observing important national and international days and weeks. As part of the initiative, students will take part in awareness campaigns on road safety and the significance of maintaining the continuous flow and cleanliness of the Ganga. A strong emphasis will be placed on experiential learning, with planned visits to nearby rivers or ponds for report writing, and field trips to rural and urban areas to observe and document local water conservation efforts.

UP Board to take strict action against teachers for skipping evaluation work

Prayagraj: After successfully announcing the results of the High School and Intermediate Examinations for 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) is now tightening its noose around teachers who skipped evaluation duties. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Board has initiated an inquiry to identify teachers who served as room invigilators during exams but failed to turn up for the evaluation of answer sheets between March 19 and April 2. Board secretary Bhagwati Singh has directed all district inspectors of schools (DIOS) to furnish detailed records of such teachers. Approximately 1,48,667 teachers were appointed as evaluators for the evaluation of about 2.84 crore answer sheets across 261 centres. However, around 30,000 to 35,000 teachers who performed invigilation duties did not participate in the evaluation process, some not even for a single day, while many just took the work as a formality. The board has not ruled out that some of these individuals may be impersonators. If found guilty, strict action will be taken against such individuals and against the school that appointed them. It is worth mentioning that during the exam period, several fake invigilators were apprehended by board's mobile teams, and criminal cases were registered under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which mandates life imprisonment and fines up to Rs 1 crore. Now, a similar probe is being launched into those who skipped evaluation work. A major concern is that these teachers accepted remuneration but failed to deliver on their responsibilities, thereby delaying the evaluation timeline and undermining the efforts of sincere examiners. The board fears that such behaviour sends a damaging message to those who uphold their duties with integrity. In a strongly worded statement, Singh said: "Teachers have to understand that things are not to be taken for granted anymore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Evaluation is a crucial part of their responsibility. Many often try to abstain from it, citing vague assumptions, but this cannot be tolerated now. Some may have genuine reasons, but we should know the details." "There are cases where teachers did not evaluate even a single copy the whole day. This not only disrupts the system but demoralises those who work with sincerity. The answer sheets could have been evaluated in a week's time, so why did it take longer? Clearly, some teachers neglected their duties, and we are trying to find them and take action against them," said Singh. Moreover, if schools are found to have deputed ineligible people for duty, both the school and its principal will face consequences, he added.

At 90.11%, UP Board clocks highest Class 10 pass percentage in its 102-yr history

Prayagraj: Establishing a new academic benchmark for the state, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UP Board) achieved an unprecedented milestone in its 102-year history with the highest-ever success rate as more than 90% of students passed the Class 10 examinations on Friday. Out of 27,32,165 students who were registered, 25,45,815 appeared for the exams, and an unprecedented 22,94,122 students, which accounts for 90.11%, came out with flying colours. This year's pass percentage surpassed the previous best of 89.78% recorded in 2023, making 2025 a milestone year. Of the successful candidates, 11,49,984 were boys and 11,44,138 were girls. While boys registered a commendable pass percentage of 86.66%, girls achieved an impressive 93.87%, continuing the trend of female students outperforming their male counterparts. Board secretary Bhagwati Singh praised the students' hard work and perseverance, attributing the historic results to their dedication and the improved academic environment across the state. The accomplishment is particularly noteworthy because whilst the 2021 pass percentage of 99.53% was determined through internal evaluations during the Covid-19 pandemic without conducting formal examinations, the 2025 results represent the highest success rate achieved through traditional examination methods. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Senioren entdecken eine einfache Lösung gegen Nagelpilz Heilratgeber Weiterlesen Undo A look back at the UP Board's performance over the past decade shows steady progress. The pass percentage, which hovered around the mid-80s in the early 2010s, steadily climbed, reaching 88.18% in 2022, 89.78% in 2023, and now breaking the 90% barrier in 2025. The intermediate examination also showcased encouraging results. Out of 25,98,560 students who appeared, 1,62,128 (7.69%) achieved distinction. Although there was a slight dip compared to 2024, the number of students securing first and second divisions increased, and those passing with third division also saw a marginal rise from 3.56% in 2024 to 3.69% this year. Reflecting on the past, the sharp contrast with the dismal 14.70% pass rate recorded in 1992 underlines the massive strides made by the UP education system. Back then, just 8.47% of boys and 36.44% of girls passed, and several schools reported zero success.
