Policeman, 42, seriously injured in hit-and-run
SEREMBAN: A 42-year-old police corporal riding a motorcycle was seriously injured after a vehicle allegedly hit him and fled the scene.
The incident happened on Monday along Jalan Bukit Nenas, near Taman Rimbun Indah, close to Seremban.
The incident occurred at around 7.55am while the victim, Mohd Fairus Khamis was on his way to work. He is currently stationed at the Rahang Police Station, Utusan reported.
Seremban deputy police chief Superintendent Muhd Amrul Yazid Anuar said Fairus was riding his Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle alone from Sendayan towards Sungai Ujong when the crash occurred.
"Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle lost control after being sideswiped by a passing vehicle.
"As a result, the motorcycle veered off to the left side of the road, while the other vehicle fled the scene without stopping," he said in a statement.
The victim suffered multiple injuries, including fractured ribs and trauma to the shoulder and head.
In separate incident in Pahang, an electrical shop employee was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a car driven by a female army officer who lost control of the vehicle.
The crash occurred at KM195.2 of the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) westbound near Kuantan at about 2.40pm on Sunday.
The victim, 49-year-old Zakuan Lateh from Selangor died on the spot due to the impact.
