Daniel Dubois is serving suspension after brutal Oleksandr Usyk defeat
The former world champion suffered an agonising defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in front of over 90,000 fans last month and is believed to be serving a suspension Daniel Dubois is currently serving a suspension from the British Boxing Board of Control - due to expire next month - following his crushing defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. The pair went head-to-head in a historic showdown at Wembley Stadium in London last month - two years on from their first dust-up. Usyk would go on to score a dominant knockout in the ninth round, but the fight was not without drama after the Ukrainian was sent crashing to the canvas in the fifth round. However, Dubois' shot was deemed to be a 'low blow' - much to the frustration of the Brit's team. Their rematch was a little more one-sided. Usyk would go on to drop 'Triple D' in the fifth round before delivering a brutal knockout blow just seconds later. Not only did the 'Cat' pick up his second in over Dubois, but he also became an undisputed champion at heavyweight for the second time of his career. After taking quite a fair bit of damage from the rematch, Dubois is currently serving a suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control - as per Boxrec's website. The suspension ends on September 2 - meaning he will be able to return to training after the aforementioned date. This week, it was revealed that the pair have both turned in negative doping tests following their heavyweight sequel. As is the case with any fight, both fighters were subject to doping tests after the contest in London. The WBC revealed earlier this week that the results from the pair have come back negative. The WBC wrote on its official website: "The Clean Boxing Program has announced that all doping tests for both fighters have come back negative. "The second fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois ended in a stunning fashion at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The Ukrainian champion delivered a powerful knockout against the British fighter in front of his home crowd, allowing Usyk to retain the heavyweight belts and reclaim the title that Dubois had held. "VADA, the independent agency that conducts the anti-doping tests for the Clean Boxing Program, reported the conclusion of the process, solidifying the victory and legacy of the undisputed Ukrainian champion. The 'Clean Boxing Program' was implemented in 2016 to conduct doping tests in the WBC. The WBC has an agreement with VADA, the association responsible for sample collection, chain of custody, and laboratory analysis." Team Dubois sent shockwaves around the boxing community just weeks after the rematch after it was revealed the Brit's coach Kieran Farrell has left the heavyweight's team. Farrell joined head trainer Don Charles last year and was in his corner for his victories over Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. And as Dubois attempts to rebuild his career, Farrell had decided to leave. In a statement posted to social media, he said: "I have made the decision to part ways with Team Dubois. In the 18 months with DDD we've achieved so much including an unforgettable night at Wembley, helping DDD become world champion has been truly rewarding on a number of levels. I wish Daniel all the best going forward." When is Daniel Dubois' next fight? It remains to be seen what is next for the former world champion, but it is expected that he will take the rest of the year to rest and assess his options going forward. Despite suffering the third defeat of his career against Usyk, Dubois still has a lot left to give the sport. Speaking about Dubois' future, his promoter Frank Warren said: "He has got to learn from it. He is only 27. I look at Frank Bruno for example, three times he fought for a world title and he got it on the fourth attempt," Warren said. "Daniel has won a world title so hopefully he will come back, but the bottom line is it was Usyk's night and he is a special, special boxer." The promoter added: "That is what Daniel needs to learn from this fight, to try and learn and develop the mental attitude that Usyk has. Daniel didn't stick to the task, he got careless, he dropped his hands and paid the price."

Daniel Dubois vs Oleksandr Usyk final drug test results released
Oleksandr Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round last month to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion for a second time Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois have both turned in NEGATIVE doping tests following their heavyweight sequel last month. The pair went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium, two months on from their initial encounter. It was the Ukrainian who emerged victorious in 2023 after stopping 'Triple D' in the ninth round - despite the fight being marred by drama. Dubois sent his foe crashing to the canvas in the fifth round, but the shot was eventually deemed low. Two years on, Usyk was eager to silence his doubters once and for all. The 38-year-old would go on to put on a more dominant display, dropping Dubois in the fifth round before delivering a knockout blow just seconds later to become the undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time in his remarkable career. As is the case with any fight, both fighters were subject to doping tests after the contest in London. The WBC have today revealed that the results from the pair have come back negative. The WBC has an agreement with VADA, the association responsible for sample collection, chain of custody, and laboratory analysis." Since moving up to heavyweight, the Ukrainian has beaten Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Dubois on two separate occasions. While several stars within the boxing world have called for Usyk to take on Joseph Parker next, the Ukrainian's long-time friend Alexander Krassyuk believes his good friend should call it a day. 'I don't see him fighting anymore, at least in boxing," he told World Boxing News. "He has proved it all; there's nothing more to gain. For sure, there're going to be some dossers around pushing him to the ring again. As a friend, I will do my best to convince him to retire.' Fans were left stunned a few weeks before the heavyweight rematch after Usyk and Krassyuk decided to part ways. The heavyweight king turned over as a professional with Krassyuk's K2 Promotions in 2013 after winning gold at the London Olympics. When asked why the decision was made to part ways with Usyk during the training camp, Krassyuk explained to World Boxing News: 'I felt the momentum. That was the right time to go. I wished Usyk to become the triple undisputed and told that I would stay the lifetime promoter of the two-time undisputed.' When is Oleksandr Usyk's next fight? It appears Usyk will take a well-deserved break for the remainder of the year to relax and enjoy precious moments with his family before considering his next move in the squared circle. Following his victory over Dubois, the Ukrainian champion reflected on his age, declaring: "38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only the start! "I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ. I want to say thank you to my team and Wembley, thank you so much! It's for the people. Nothing is next. It's enough, next, I don't know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest." He continued: "Maybe it's Tyson Fury," Usyk added. "Maybe we have three choices, Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. Listen, I cannot now say because I want to go back home."

Jaime Munguía promises ‘clarity' on failed drugs test, but hints at inadvertent use
Former world champion Jaime Munguía has released a second statement after his failed VADA test following his points decision over Bruno Surace. Munguía has intimated in the last twenty-four hours that the exogenous testosterone in his system was due to contamination and reiterated that he had been tested more than 100 times in his career without an adverse finding. Last week, VADA said that Munguía had tested positive for elevated testosterone following his rematch with Surace. A few days after the adverse test result was announced, Munguía asked for his second sample to be tested. Those results are not yet known. Now, Munguía's team have released a statement promising 'additional clarity' in response to what it calls 'speculation and misinformation'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jaime Munguía (@jaimemunguiaoficial) However, the Instagram-released statement does little but muddy the waters. Munguía's team said in its statement: 'The test in question was one of multiple tests conducted during training camp – all others came back clean. The positive A-sample result was unexpected and deeply concerning to us. Exogenous testosterone – like many banned substances – can enter the body in several ways, not solely through intentional use. At this moment, we do not yet know what caused the result.' The team added: 'We are rigorously reviewing every product Jaime has used, including supplements, pharmaceuticals, treatments, and anything else that could be relevant. This is a meticulous process, and we are committed to uncovering how this substance may have entered his system.' There was an attempt through the statement, too, to assuage speculation that Eddy Reynoso, Munguía's coach, had any part in Munguía's nutrition. The team asked for speculation to cease until the results of the second test were revealed. It was also said by Munguía's team that they had not yet been informed about the exact levels of testosterone in the first sample. The statement reads: 'While we wait, we urge the public and the media to avoid drawing premature conclusions based on incomplete information. One thing we know for certain: Jaime is not a cheater. He did not knowingly or intentionally take anything that would violate anti-doping regulations. To suggest otherwise is not only inaccurate, but deeply unfair to a fighter who has always operated with professionalism, integrity, and respect for the sport.' It adds: 'He has been a consistent advocate for clean boxing and has personally insisted on VADA testing throughout his career because he understands that in a contact sport, the use of performance-enhancing drugs can have serious, even dangerous, consequences.'

Bruno Surace calls for defeat to Jaime Munguía to be overturned after opponent returns positive test
Former world champion Jaime Munguía has returned an adverse analytical finding for testosterone metabolites in his A-sample after his second fight against Bruno Surace. The Ring reports that Munguia's A-sample returned an adverse analytical finding, and that the 28-year-old has 10 days to request an analysis of his B-sample. Munguía had defeated Surace on points following their first encounter, which Surace won by knockout. On the undercard of stablemate Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez's unification bout with William Scull, Munguía, 45-2 (35), controlled the bout with Surace from start to finish, continuing a similar pattern from the first fight. In the original meeting, Surace found a knockout punch in the sixth round to turn the contest on its head. The defeat to Munguía was the first of Frenchman Surace's career, the 26-year-old moving to a record of 26-1-2 (5). Speaking about Munguía's positive test, Surace told The Ring: 'I'm shocked by the news that Jaime Munguia tested positive for a banned substance. There's no place in boxing for cheating; the sport is dangerous enough already." He added: 'I went to Mexico and knocked out Munguía fair and square in December and I was gracious enough to give him a rematch in May. He knew he could not beat me on a level playing field. I trust that this result will be overturned immediately.' Munguía linked up with Eddy Reynoso ahead of facing Surace for a second time at the start of May. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), which adminstered the tests, has been approached for comment. Munguia denies doping despite adverse test result
The Ring Magazine reported on its website on Thursday that the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) had "informed all relevant parties" that the "A" sample provided by Munguia was positive for exogenous origin of testosterone metabolites. If the "B" sample returns a similar adverse finding Munguia faces suspension and the the change of his victory to a no-contest. "Several experts have explained that there are multiple ways contamination can occur, and I am fully willing to undergo any retroactive, current, or future testing to demonstrate that I have always been a clean athlete," Munguia said in a statement posted on Instagram. The 28-year-old, who owns a record of 45-2 with 35 knockouts, said he has undergone numerous anti-doping tests in his career and never tested positive. "I was tested twice during this training camp, and both results came back negative, which is why receiving this notification of an adverse finding has been a complete surprise to me," said Munguia, who added he would not comment further until the "B" sample results are known. Munguia earned a unanimous decision victory over Surace on May 4 in Riyadh, on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez's super middleweight title unification triumph over William Scull. Munguia kept Surace on the ropes for much of the match as he avenged a knockout loss to the French fighter in December. Surace told The Ring that the result of the rematch should be "overturned immediately". "I went to Mexico and knocked out Mungiua fair and square in December and I was gracious enough to give him a rematch in May," he said. "He knew he could not beat me n a level playing field. I trust that this result will be overturned immediately".
