Must-try north central West Virginia restaurants in 2025
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — West Virginia Tourism's 2025 Vacation Guide is being delivered across the state, and several restaurants in north central West Virginia are featured in it.
Of the 26 'Appalachian Eats' featured in the new guide, four of them are in the north central region. Many area residents will be familiar with these restaurants, but anyone who isn't should use this as a sign to try some of the best food in the state!
2025 West Virginia Vacation Guide now available for free
Located in Morgantown, Von Blaze is categorized as 'casual dining' by West Virginia Tourism, offering a 'sense of ease that comes with the laid-back vibe.' Von Blaze is a community favorite, with sandwiches, burgers and brunch items. According to the 2025 guide, guests should consider trying the famous crispy chicken drummies or tres leche French toast.
With locations in Thomas and Elkins, TipTop is the perfect place to get your coffee fix or enjoy a pastry or light bite. TipTop is known for its high-quality, specialty-made brews and offers options from a variety of roasters.
For international flavors, try Elender's in Thomas, which has a diverse menu celebrating global street food. The Vacation Guide recommends the Indian vegetable pakoras, Thai spring rolls or Korean bibimbap. Elender's is also a stop on the West Virginia Culinary Trail, so make sure to check in to get credit toward a prize.
Located in Fairmont, the Poky Dot has some of the most Instagrammable food in the state. Known for its colorful, vintage-style décor and over-the-top ice cream offerings, in the words of West Virginia Tourism, 'Here's a place that's as fun as it sounds.'
