Two ‘radicalised youth' arrested by Vizianagaram police
The Vizianagaram police arrested two 'radicalised youth', who were allegedly involved in making bombs and provoking the Muslim youth by posting comments on social media thereby inciting violence. On a tip-off, the Vizianagaram Two Town police raided a house and arrested 29-year-old Siraj-Ur-Rehaman, who was allegedly preparing explosive substances. The police seized some raw material used for making explosives such as aluminium powder and sulphur powder. Based on his confession, a police team of Vizianagaram district went to Hyderabad and picked up another accused, Syed Sameer, who was in touch with Rehaman, and was posting comments on social media groups. The accused were booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and also under Explosive Substances Act of 1908, said Vizianagaram district Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal. 'We have seized some explosive material and the accused were produced in court, which remanded them to judicial custody,' the SP said on Sunday. Police are inquiring whether the accused were in touch with any banned Muslim organisation or with any terror groups, and since how long they were in contact with each other, an investigation officer said. 'Officers of the Counter Intelligence and other agencies are verifying the contacts of the accused and their social media accounts,' the police officer said. Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal directed all police station house officers to be vigilant and question suspicious persons in the backdrop of Pahalgam incident in which 26 persons were killed by militants on April 22, 2025.

72-years-old convicted under POCSO Act
Vizianagaram: The special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (0) cases convicted three years of imprisonment for 72-year-old man for raping of a minor. SP Vakul Jindal informed that special judge for POCSO court K Nagamani delivered the judgement. Besides jail, the judge also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict. The SP said that women police station received a complaint from a woman of Vizianagaram city that babu has raped a six years old girl while she was playing nearby her house. Based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the girl the police registered a case and arrested the accused Anji Babu. The investigation and the prosecution proved that Anjibabu had intentionally committed the crime and the judge has imposed three years of imprisonment and penalty of Rs 1000. Public prosecutor M Khajana Rao argued on behalf of investigation team. DSP Rao and others investigated the case. SP Jindal appreciated theinvestigation team.

Police seize 75 vehicles and 3070 houses search
Vizianagaram: Police has undertaken a massive cordon and search to check any anti-social elements amid sencitive situation emerged in the society due to indo pak war. Vakul Jindal, SP said that they conducted surprise inspections across 3,070 houses in YSR Nagar. The operation was undertaken by DSP M. Srinivasa Rao and was monitored by District SP Vakul Jindal. A total 400 police personnel, including 12 CIs and 32 Sub-Inspectors, participated in the operation. The locality was divided into 14 blocks, with each block being assigned to a team comprising Sub-Inspectors, other police staff, and women officers. In total, 28 search teams were deployed, each supervised by CI-level officers. The police carried out fingerprint verifications of unfamiliar individuals using MSCD (Mobile Scanner and Crime Detection) devices and collected identification details. As part of the operation, they also examined vehicles found at the locations. A total of 75 two-wheelers without proper documentation were seized and moved to the Second Town Police Station for further investigation. During the search, one suspicious individual was detained. The police recovered 25 mobile phones and 3 litres of liquor from his possession. However, no illegal substances such as marijuana or illicit liquor were found during the raids. Jindal emphasized that similar surprise operations would be conducted in other parts of the district in the near future.

Cops conduct surprise inspections at hotels across dist
Vizianagaram: Amid escalating tensions at India-Pakistan border, the Vizianagaram district police have intensified security measures across the region. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal said that in a coordinated operation involving police officers, staff, bomb and dog squads, surprise inspections were conducted on Friday in key areas of the district including coastal regions, railway stations, bus stands, hotels, and lodges. As part of these operations, police inspected 91 lodges across 55 locations to identify suspicious individuals. The authorities checked fingerprints and verified identification documents of those staying in lodges and hotels, with special focus on detecting foreign nationals, who may have entered the district under dubious circumstances. Jindal emphasised that the police were actively working to track down suspicious individuals and prevent any potential threats. The inspections extended to 14 railway stations and several bus terminals, where platforms, restrooms, passenger luggage, and parcels were thoroughly checked by bomb and dog squads. During the extensive vehicle checks, police inspected 1,088 vehicles, seized 10 vehicles for violating legal norms, and issued e-challans for Motor Vehicle Act violations. To bolster surveillance in coastal villages, drones were deployed. The district-wide inspections were supervised by DSPs M Srinivasa Rao, G Bhavya Reddy, S Raghavulu and others.

Online betting racket busted, 11 arrested
Bobbili (Vizianagaram): Bobbili Police in the Vizianagaram district have successfully dismantled a cricket betting operation and arrested 11 individuals. On Friday, SP Vakul Jindal, IPS, provided details about the case. The police discovered the betting den in a mango orchard located on the outskirts of Shivaramapuram village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bobbili Police Station. Musidipalli Divakar from Parvathipuram Manyam district is identified as the key figure in this illegal activity. He gained administrative access to a betting app called 'Radhe Exchange' from a person named Niranjan Reddy in Bengaluru. In an effort to expand the racket, Divakar recruited agents across the Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Visakhapatnam districts, offering them commissions to attract local youth to the betting app. These agents promoted the app via WhatsApp links and operated under a structured betting scheme. Further investigations revealed that Divakar, along with Gundala Naveen and Eedubilli Santosh, had also secured administrative access to another app called 'National Exchange' in order to scale up their operations. Approximately 200 individuals from the three districts were actively using these apps for online betting. Mahanti Ganesh, Samireddy Vasu, Kottangi Mohana Rao, Modadla Paidiraju, and Tati Shankar Rao served as agents, bringing more youth into the betting scheme. The agents received a 3% commission as well as half of the income generated from the betting activities. The police seized a total of Rs 14, 02, 000 in cash, a laptop, a car, and 13 mobile phones during the operation. Bobbili DSP G Bhavya Reddy, CI K Satish Kumar, and others were present during the investigation.
