Valmiki Samaj condemns removal of Rajanna from Cabinet for speaking the truth
Members of the Belagavi district Valmiki Samaj have condemned the removal of K.N. Rajanna from the Ministry reportedly over his comment on the 'Vote Chori' campaign by the Congress.
The dismissal of Mr. Rajanna from the Cabinet for speaking the truth is highly condemnable, samaj president Rajashekar Talawar said in Belagavi on Wednesday.
He said that Mr. Rajanna is a straightforward person and is not used to making diplomatic statements.
He has only said that the Congress has to be careful while elections are being conducted. The State government was in power when the Lok Sabha polls were held and naturally, 'we should have noticed electoral malpractices or errors by the Election Commission of India.'
'What is wrong in that? He has been punished for speaking the truth. This is truly tragic and condemnable. This is not acceptable,' he said. He demanded that the Congress high command introspect on its actions.
Mr. Talwar also said that with the ouster of Mr. Rajanna, the number of Scheduled Tribes Ministers in the Cabinet has been reduced to just one (Satish Jarkiholi). 'This can be perceived to be a grave insult to the entire AHINDA community. Such imbalance needs to be corrected,' he said.
He suspected the involvement of some vested interests behind Mr. Rajanna's dismissal.
'Apart from being a minister and a community leader, Mr. Rajanna is also a senior cooperative sector leader. His contributions to the field of cooperation should not be forgotten,' Mr. Talwar said.
Rajashekar Talawara, Sanju Nayak and others were present.
