'I bought a damp caravan for £500 on Facebook Marketplace to turn into my dream home'
Hayley and her partner Ben spent three months transforming the rundown caravan into their perfect holiday home A woman has transformed a damp caravan she bought on Facebook Marketplace for £500 into her "dream" holiday home. Hayley Rubery, 35, renovated the entire caravan on a small budget and said she's "absolutely chuffed to bits" with how it turned out. Hayley and her partner Ben, 41, bought a 1989 Van Royce two-berth caravan, which she has dubbed Joyce, online and has since been hard at work renovating it. After three months of graft, the thrifty 35-year-old has given it a complete overhaul, spending £498 on making it a modern and stylish mobile home. They managed to bag the caravan for a third of the asking price of £1,500, and then set to work transforming it with a £500 budget. The mobile home was full of damp and required a full "gutting and refit" plus a cosmetic overhaul – something Hayley and Ben did throughout the week and on weekends, whenever they had a few hours spare alongside their full-time jobs. Hayley, who is a content creator based in Norfolk, told What's The Jam: "We spent months gutting, cleaning, sealing, painting and designing our caravan. It needed some TLC but we saw the potential. "First we cleaned and stripped everything down – goodbye to years of grime and hello to a fresh start. We tackled the essentials, fixed what was broken, sanded and painted what we could – all walls and kitchen cupboards and cabinets. "We removed the cushions in the seating area as they were damp and put a mattress in there so we'd have a permanent bed. I spray painted the outside using Valspar direct to metal paint and a spray gun." She added: "We added a slat wall feature in the entryway using 50p lengths of wood from the timber yard and stick-on tiles for a strong visual effect in the kitchen. I upcycled and kept everything I could to keep the costs down. "From repurposed furniture to second hand finds, we stretched every pound. It's amazing what you can do when you get creative." Hayley and Ben painted the caravan's exterior for £100, as well as inside, and also spent money on wood, sealant, stick-on tiles, lino flooring, lighting, and fixtures including the taps and door handles. Decor came in at just £44.67, with Hayley sourcing much of it from charity shops and online. Hayley added: "Joyce has a lot of green, natural wood textures and plants. My style it very much 'cottage country' vibes. I love it. Who says you need a big budget to make big changes? It's amazing what you can do with £500!"

Paintmaker Sherwin-Williams cuts 2025 profit forecast on weak demand
By Katha Kalia and Sumit Saha (Reuters) -Sherwin-Williams cut full-year adjusted profit forecast and missed second-quarter earnings estimate on Tuesday, hit by weak demand for its paint products. A sharp drop in new U.S. home sales has pressured demand for construction-related coatings, materials and paints. "Demand was softer than anticipated through June, and we do not see catalysts to change that trajectory at this time, causing us to adjust our full-year guidance downward," said CEO Heidi Petz. Petz said on a post-earnings call that the company — one of the world's largest coating makers — expects weakness to persist in the second half of the year, with further deterioration possible. Shares of the company fell 2.8% to $331.63. Sherwin-Williams expects its 2025 adjusted per-share profit to be between $11.20 and $11.50, compared with its previous forecast of $11.65 to $12.05. Analysts on average expected $11.88, according to data compiled by LSEG. The paintmaker cut its annual capital spending budget by roughly 19% to $730 million and said it expects a slight deflation in raw materials to result in flat full-year costs. Petz said while lower costs would help, "these benefits are not enough to fully offset the impact of the softer demand environment (and) tariffs also remain a variable in this outlook." Sherwin-Williams — which supplies paints, coatings and specialty materials under brands such as Valspar, Minwax and Purdy — reported a 4.1% decrease in sales of its consumer brands unit to $809.4 million during the quarter ended June 30. Net sales in its paint stores segment rose to $3.7 billion from $3.62 billion a year earlier, boosted by higher selling prices. The Ohio-based company posted an adjusted profit of $3.38 per share for the second quarter, compared with analysts' estimate of $3.81.

Paintmaker Sherwin-Williams cuts 2025 profit forecast on soft demand
(Reuters) -Sherwin-Williams cut full-year adjusted profit forecast and missed second-quarter earnings estimate on Tuesday, hit by soft demand for paint products, sending the company's shares down more than 4% in premarket trading. A sharp drop in new U.S. home sales could weigh on paintmakers by reducing the demand for construction-related coatings, materials and paints. "Demand was softer than anticipated through June, and we do not see catalysts to change that trajectory at this time, causing us to adjust our full-year guidance downward," said Heidi Petz, CEO at Sherwin-Williams — one of the world's largest coating makers. The company expects its 2025 adjusted per-share profit to be between $11.20 and $11.50, compared with its previous forecast of $11.65 to $12.05. Analysts on average estimate $11.88 per share, according to data compiled by LSEG. Sherwin-Williams — which supplies paints, coatings and specialty materials under the brands Valspar, Minwax, Purdy and many more — reported a 4.1% decrease in sales of its consumer brands unit to $809.4 million during the quarter due to soft DIY demand in North America. Net sales in its paint stores segment rose to $3.7 billion from $3.62 billion a year earlier, boosted by higher selling prices. The Ohio-based company posted an adjusted profit of $3.38 per share for the three months ended June 30, while analysts estimated $3.81 per share. What to Expect From Sherwin-Williams' Next Quarterly Earnings Report
The Sherwin-Williams Company (SHW) is the world's largest paint and coatings manufacturer and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. With a market cap of $86.6 billion, it operates over 5,000 stores and serves customers across more than 120 countries. Its business is divided into three key segments: Paint Stores Group, Consumer Brands Group, and Performance Coatings Group, with well-known brands like Valspar, Krylon, and Minwax under its umbrella. The chemicals giant is expected to announce its second-quarter results before the markets open on Tuesday, July 22. Ahead of the event, analysts expect SHW to deliver adjusted earnings of $3.76 per share, up 1.6% from $3.70 per share reported in the year-ago quarter. While the company has surpassed the Street's bottom-line estimates in three of the past four quarters, it has missed the expectations on another occasion. For the current year, SHW's adjusted EPS is expected to increase 3.9% from $11.33 in fiscal 2024 to $11.77. Looking ahead, its earnings are expected to jump 10% year-over-year to $12.95 in fiscal 2026. Sherwin-Williams shares have soared 15.1% over the past 52 weeks, notably outperforming the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 13.6% rise and the Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund's (XLB) marginal decline during the same time frame. Despite reporting a mixed Q1 performance on April 29, Sherwin-Williams shares jumped 4.8%. The company reported net sales of $5.3 billion, down 1.1% year-over-year and below Wall Street expectations, as weaker performance in the Consumer Brands and Performance Coatings segments, driven by soft DIY demand in North America and unfavorable currency impacts, weighed on revenue. However, strong gross margin gains and effective cost management helped boost adjusted EPS to $2.25, marking a 3.7% increase from the prior year and beating analyst forecasts by 3.2%, which fueled investor optimism and the stock's rally. The consensus opinion on SHW stock is moderately bullish, with an overall 'Moderate Buy' rating. Among the 25 analysts covering the stock, 14 recommend 'Strong Buy,' two suggest 'Moderate Buy,' eight advise 'Hold,' and one advocates a 'Moderate Sell' rating. Its mean price target of $389.18 represents a 13.3% upside potential from current price levels.
